SESSION 10 — The Weight of Judgment  Date: May 23, 2057

Primary Location: The Veil (Luxor), Subterranean Passage → Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut

Session Overview

Session Ten is not about escalation. It is about realization. What begins as consolidation after the maintenance bay conflict becomes something far more unsettling:

The party recovers artifacts that reinforce emerging identities

Michael disappears—not by force, but by choice

A hidden structure beneath the Veil is uncovered

And most critically—the party begins to understand that they are not fully in control of themselves

This session does not end in confrontation. It ends in awareness. 

Chronological Narrative

1. Aftermath of the Maintenance Bay

The session opens immediately following the defeat and release of Kareem Haddad and his crew. The party spends approximately an hour cataloging recovered items. Each character identifies and begins to understand their artifact:

Yusuf — Bracers of the Sentinel Defensive redirection, reactive protection, potential to reflect attacks

Rana — Feather of Maat (Bracelet Form)   Expanded perception: True sight, Aura reading, Lie detection,  360° awareness, Extreme visual range

Tariq — Cloak of the Pharaoh (Unknown Pharaoh Collection): Enhanced intellect and dexterity, Immunity to environmental effects, Resistance to non-magical harm, Perception beyond invisibility

David — Scabbard of the Square: Stabilizes and enhances the Kopesh, Grants elemental command and combat fortune

At this stage, the items are still being understood mechanically, not philosophically.

2. The Question of Michael

The group immediately turns to the unresolved issue: What do we do with Michael?

Key dynamics: Rana insists he must be hidden and protected

David agrees but emphasizes his instability, Tariq pushes for Michael’s agency, Yusuf raises logistical concerns

The group debates: Safehouses, External allies (Vakeman Chou, embassy options), Splitting the party, No decision is reached.

This matters. The party delays action. The world does not.

3. The First Sign — Someone Is Watching

During the discussion, David experiences something subtle but critical: A sensation of being targeted / observed, Instinctive unease, Environmental awareness spike.

He activates detection abilities and identifies: Fading magic in the air, No source is identified. No confrontation occurs. But the implication is clear: Someone—or something—was here. And is now gone.

4. Strategic Division Considered

The group considers splitting: Some to remain with Michael, Others to investigate the silo

They ultimately reject this approach due to: Risk, Distance, Uncertainty

Instead, they decide: Speak to Michael first. Then act.  Tariq deliberately removes himself from the interaction, honoring prior tension.

5. The Absence

When the group returns to Michael—He is gone. So is the Giant. No struggle. No damage. No confusion.

Just absence.

Lucien confirms: They left approximately an hour earlier  Mentioning “fire speaking” to Lucien which aligns with the earlier clue.

At this point: Rana already understands more than the group (private letter), everyone else must interpret from fragments

6. Tariq’s Realization — The Internal Threat

During discussion, a critical breakthrough occurs between Tariq and Yusuf.

What begins as theory about: Sawirus, The plane, controlled individuals, becomes something far more dangerous.

They realize: There is more than one mind controller among them and they may have been influencing each other without full awareness. This lands as a cold realization: Missing memories, behavioral inconsistencies, emotional manipulation/ Not external, internal. The threat is no longer just “The Master.” The threat may include them.

7. Rana Establishes Control (Quietly)

Rana intervenes decisively: Confirms communication with Michael, shestates clearly he does not know where he is going,  Lucien does not know,  which prevents escalation into invasive probing

She redirects the group: Do not press for answers that do not exist. This is subtle—but critical.

Rana: Protects Michael’s autonomy, Prevents Tariq from crossing a line, Maintains group cohesion

8. Decision Point — Move Forward

With Michael gone and no immediate leads beyond symbolism, the group chooses:

Proceed with investigation rather than pursuit, They prepare secure recovered materials (David’s dimensional storage), Organize transport, Plan next steps, two options emerge:

1. The Silo     2. The Veil excavation

They choose: Investigate beneath the Veil first

9. Discovery — The Hidden Staircase

Using combined abilities: Yusuf (enhanced X-ray via effort), Tariq (coordination and planning), Rana (sensory support).

They locate: A concealed staircase in the central courtyard.

Key details: Long unused, covered by decades of growth, Extremely difficult to detect.

This confirms: Kareem’s team was correct— but they never found the entrance.

10. Descent into the Chamber

The group opens the passage and descends.

Observations: Ancient construction, No active traps, Heavy, enduring structure, Long-decayed inscriptions.  The passage opens into:

The Chamber of the Unseen Sun

Identified characteristics: Egyptian ritual chamber, Strong association with Ra,  Full pantheon representation, Extremely dense construction. Notably the chamber is naturally shielded from detection and interference. Even potentially resistant to EMP-like effects, Difficult to locate externally.

11. The Blocked Passage

Opposite the chamber, a corridor, blocked by ~40 feet of collapsed stone.  David clears it using telekinetic force.

Beyond: A long tunnel, Not straight, Extending far beyond immediate perception

12. The Long Walk

The party commits. They move forward.  30 minutes → no change 1 hour → air improves 1.5 hours → environmental shift. Along the way, no signs of recent use only an abandoned sled and increasing psychological pressure from depth and isolation. This is not a dungeon.  This is infrastructure.

13. Emergence — The Connection Revealed

After roughly 1.5 hours of travel the party exits through a concealed opening in a cliff face.

They arrive at The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut

Critical implications: This site is already tied to their artifacts, The tunnel connects major ancient locations, the system is intentional, not symbolic, they are no longer guessing. The network is real.

14. Modern Reality Intrudes

The temple grounds are Active, Populated, Secured

Due to current global conditions: No tourists, only locals and personnel, likely surveillance present

The group recognizes immediately entering now risks exposure The party chooses restraint.  They do not enter the temple. They do not pursue Michael.  They do not engage external threats.

Instead, they step back with something far more valuable: Understanding.

15. Memory, Trauma — and the Road to the Silo

Before the party moves on the silo, the night is broken by something none of them can control.

Not an attack. Not an enemy. Memory.  The Return of the Plane

Roughly an hour passes in uneasy rest when it begins.  Not gradually—but violently. Yusuf and David are both pulled into fully immersive recollections of the plane incident. These are not flashes or impressions. They are lived experiences. And something else is present within them.An overwhelming sense of another entity—something moving among them, around the plane, beyond their understanding.

The memory ends the same way for both:A violent, dark interruption. They awaken in a cold sweat.

Yusuf’s Memory

Yusuf’s final image is precise—and deeply wrong.  He sees the burning aircraft, survivors scattered. chaos already unfolding, And then—Tariq, unconscious, suspended outside the plane.

Not falling. Not supported. Held upright in the air like—

A marionette on invisible strings! There is no visible force.  No explanation. Only control.

David’s Dream

David does not remember. He relives. His experience comes as a nightmare so vivid it strips away context entirely. The crash, the violence of wind and debris and the moment of impact, and then:

Impalement. A broken piece of the aircraft drives through him—fatal, unavoidable. He feels everything, The pain, the helplessness, the certainty of death, and worse—

The presence of something else Watching. Connected. Beyond him. As his vision fades, one final image:

• Rana approaching him

Then—Darkness. He wakes shaken, tired, and deeply disturbed.

The Others Rana and Tariq do not experience the same visions.  Instead, they endure: Sudden, intense migraines, Familiar psychic pressure, Residual mental strain. They recognize it for what it is:

Their minds are resisting something or recovering from something that had been done to them. By morning, the group understands something critical, these are not dreams, these are not distortions.

These are restored memories. Memories that had been, suppressed, altered, or removed entirely

And now—they are slowly coming back.

Movement Toward the Silo

There is no longer any illusion of control. Not over their past. And possibly not over themselves.

With Michael gone, the Veil no longer offering answers, and the weight of these revelations settling in, the group makes a decision, move forward. They gather their equipment, secure their recovered assets, and leave the Veil behind.

Their destination: The silo the final known endpoint of the artifact pipeline.

When they arrive, the shift is immediate. This is not hidden. This is not abandoned. This is operational.

From observation, the party identifies: Organized perimeter security, Coordinated patrols, Structured occupation.

Rana recognizes the patterns instantly, terrorist networks and black-market infrastructure.

What confirms the scale of the threat is the Powered Individuals that move among

The party watches, Measures, Understands. This is not a cache. Not a waypoint.

This is a hub of power, control, and distribution and cannot be ignored. By the end of the session, the conclusion is clear: They are not here to observe. They are here to act.

Closing Beat

Behind them: Lost memories, manipulated pasts, a growing sense of unseen control

In front of them: Armed resistance, organized opposition, others like themselves

The silo stands lit in the distance. Alive. Ready.

For the first time—The party prepares to strike first.
