Session Overview

Session Twenty-One begins in the aftermath of the failed executive committee vote.

The party has won a critical boardroom victory, but the victory does not feel clean. Luca is outside the room but not contained. Sawiris is still compromised. Yusuf has been used more than once. Naomi is dead. The Master is learning.

The evening after the vote fractures into separate investigations. David departs for England on royal business. Michael remains beneath Luxor, helping Amira Haddad restore and understand the hidden Temple of Hathor. Tariq and Yusuf return to the High House with Layla Karim, where Tariq breaks into the second layer of Yusuf’s altered memory. Rana stays behind and takes Marcus Blackstone to dinner.

Each thread reveals a different part of the same war.

Michael uncovers more of Hathor’s temple: celestial ceilings, Hathoric pillars, hidden crypts, and the architecture of divine joy as protection against chaos. Tariq discovers that Yusuf’s second missing night was covered with implanted or altered memories drawn from Luca’s own actions. Yusuf and Tariq retrace the route and uncover what Luca really did: draining storm-touched people in an apartment building and returning to Serpent’s Kiss, a closed restaurant that once served as a mercenary contact point.

Rana’s dinner with Blackstone becomes one of the most important conversations of the campaign. She tells him the truth: Sawiris is not simply divided, the influence extends to others, and Blackstone himself is storm-touched. His power is immunity. He has been untouched because powers do not affect him. Luca’s drain, Rana’s healing, mental probes, poisons, and supernatural influence all fail against him. He is still human. He can still bleed. But he cannot be compelled the way the others can.

Blackstone also confirms key pieces of the past. The Unknown Pharaoh collection was a cover. Years before the Storm, Sawiris chased relics connected to symbols that led to genealogical research. That research produced the list that eventually became the contest. Mei Lin helped decipher the material. Luca was brought in shortly before the Storm as special security under a false identity.

Then morning comes, and the Master stops hiding.

When the party opens the boardroom doors, Naguib Sawiris is already gone from his own face. The Master is seated at the table, fully present, serpentine, amused, hateful, and very aware that Tariq broke Yusuf’s memory block. He taunts Yusuf with the question that becomes the title of the session: “For how long, I wonder?”

The board meeting that follows is not subtle control. It is occupation.

The Master speaks through Sawiris, forces votes with gestures, mocks Rana’s weakness, praises Tariq’s usefulness, calls Sophia Reyes unworthy, confirms the satellite network can detect leyline and powered patterns, explains Gansu as punishment for China’s experiments, and reveals his contempt for humanity when Blackstone speaks the word “humanitarian.”

He leaves only when he chooses to leave and when he does, Sawiris collapses into Luca’s arms.

The boardroom survives the encounter. Barely.

The Story So Far

Session Twenty ended with the failure of agenda item 5. The executive committee authority vote failed by one vote after Tariq freed Yusuf from suggestion and Rana cast Amira’s proxy against the measure. The Thoth Network Network gained formal arcane and artifact oversight, Luca was procedurally removed from the boardroom, and Amira Haddad became Hathor’s priestess beneath Luxor.

The party also learned that the Master is the former ruler of Earth, that “Scale” marks the bloodline connection to him in the Scraphite records, and that Sawiris’ ambitions extend through the Thoth Network Network, the Pharaonic States, and the UN.

Session Twenty-One begins with the boardroom wounded but not finished, and the Master ready to speak for himself.

Major Events & Key Moments

1. Scattered After the Vote

The session opens Tuesday evening with the party split.

David receives an emergency request from England and departs on royal business. He returns to his room, collects what he needs, and leaves the facility before teleporting away. The move is clean, practical, and very David: even magical emergency travel apparently needs packing discipline.

Michael remains beneath Luxor with Amira Haddad, continuing work in the hidden Temple of Hathor. Rana stays at the Alexandria Institute and arranges dinner with Marcus Blackstone. Tariq and Yusuf return to the High House with Layla Karim.

For once, the group is not simply reacting to a single crisis. They are pursuing multiple fronts: temple restoration, legal alliance, memory recovery, and the next stage of board strategy.

Naturally, every one of those fronts turns out to be dangerous.

Efficiency. The universe’s cruelest joke.

2. Faith, Media, and the War of Meaning

Before everyone fully separates, Michael raises a strategic idea. If the Master is the former ruler of Earth, and if divine powers like Ra, Hathor, and Anubis are again acting in the world, perhaps media should not only explain events, perhaps it should spread virtues, divine examples, and moral attention.

He is not proposing a cultic broadcast, the group is careful about that. Rana notes that direct religious messaging could alienate people, while language around humanity, goodwill, and virtue may reach more broadly. Tariq connects the idea to Rana’s earlier public plea and his own work with the virtues. Yusuf translates the thought into something more modern: videos.

A global interview, a recurring media presence, a Thoth Network-themed platform, prepared questions, and careful language all become part of the discussion. The group agrees that they should avoid words like “temple” in public messaging. Letting the internet discover hidden sacred sites would produce exactly the kind of disaster humanity always pretends it will not produce five minutes before producing it.

The media question is no longer just public relations. It is moral infrastructure.

3. The Hidden Temple of Hathor

While the others move through Alexandria, Michael continues with Amira beneath Luxor.

The Temple of Hathor begins revealing itself in greater detail. Its grand hypostyle hall is lined with massive pillars topped by Hathoric capitals: four faces of the goddess, serene, wigged, cow-eared, and protective. Above each face, the stone becomes the sistrum, Hathor’s sacred rattle, a symbol of music, joy, priestess ritual, and warding against chaos.

The ceilings are celestial turquoise, alive with cosmic imagery. Nut stretches across the night sky, swallowing the sun and birthing it again. Around her move constellations, decans, and divine boats carrying planetary gods.

Michael also uncovers crypts and secret trap doors, though they remain uncleared.

The temple isn't just sacred space—it's architecture as cosmology. True to this campaign's nature, it isn't merely beautiful; it is almost certainly a map, a lock, and a warning.

4. Tariq Opens the Second Memory

At the High House, Tariq prepares to recover the second night of Yusuf’s missing time.

Yusuf is seated comfortably in a parlor. Layla and Soraya Mansour witness the attempt, with Soraya recording on her Thoth Network phone. The group jokes about the party’s own storm-touched phones: indestructible, uncharged, and increasingly suspicious little slabs of corporate magic. The ordinary ones, alas, remain trapped in the mortal tragedy of batteries.

Tariq focuses on the relevant time and pushes into the block.

His first effort fails. He spends a hero point and succeeds. Then comes the Will save against the Master’s curse. Natural 20. Tariq does not succumb. But this time, the Master notices.

That matters. The party is no longer breaking old locks in the dark. The owner heard the click.

5. The Memory of Luca Feeding

The recovered memory begins in the inner boardroom. Yusuf is there with Luca. No one else.

For a long time, nothing happens. They stare at one another across the table. The scene is dull in the way a predator can be dull before it moves.  Then Luca changes.

He begins looking better and worse at the same time. Eventually he rises, crosses to Yusuf, and places his hand on Yusuf’s forehead. The pressure is visible. Yusuf’s skull deforms under Luca’s grip. The image resembles an old wrestling claw hold only if professional wrestling had been invented by a butcher-priest with no concept of mercy.

Luca does not hold him long. Perhaps ten minutes.But he does not need to.

The real horror is proximity. Tariq recognizes it as an energy transfer. Luca feeds on Yusuf’s power, endurance, or life force simply by being near him. With Tariq’s knowledge of Colossus engines, the exchange is almost mechanically obvious.

Luca is not only draining. He is being sustained.

6. The False Route

The memory then shifts.

Yusuf and Luca leave the Institute and enter an electric vehicle resembling Sawiris’ Tesla SUV. They drive a route through low-income and commercial areas near the edge of Alexandria. The route loops and crosses itself in a rough star-like pattern, not as ritual geometry, but as if they are circling, searching, or triangulating. They stop twice.

First, at an apartment building. Luca goes in. Yusuf stays in the car.

Second, at a closed Egyptian restaurant called Serpent’s Kiss. Luca exits, goes around the side into an alley, and later returns.

The memory brings them back to the Institute. But when Tariq emerges, he does not trust it.

Something is wrong with the images. The route, the stops, and the long staring scene feel like they contain truth, but not clean truth. The memory may be layered, altered, or built partly from Luca’s own memories. So Yusuf and Tariq decide to go see the places themselves.

7. Rana and Marcus Blackstone

Rana’s evening takes a quieter but equally dangerous path.

Marcus Blackstone takes her to a private meal near the Mediterranean, in a trusted local home where food from a neighborhood restaurant is prepared for them. He has Rana wear a shawl and avoids important conversation in the car. Before entering, he removes his watch and phone and leaves them behind. Rana does the same.

Inside, the setting is private, comfortable, and disarming. Blackstone arranged it precisely because no one should think to look there. Once they are alone, he gives Rana the floor.

Rana asks what he knows.

Blackstone admits he knows something is attached to the party after the Storm. He can tell when it takes over Sawiris. He is terrified of Luca. He had understood the situation as something like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Sawiris divided between a monstrous side and a resisting side.

Rana tells him the truth is worse. The influence extends beyond Sawiris. It takes control of others. It changes behavior, votes, values, and decisions. She does not give him every detail, and she is explicit about why: the less he knows, the safer he remains if someone captures him.

Blackstone understands that as both legal logic and survival logic. A grim little overlap. The law finally meets common sense in an alley and they both look surprised.

8. Blackstone Learns What He Is

Rana then tells Blackstone that every board member is storm-touched, letting Marcus realize that included him. At first, he resists the idea. He was not on the plane. He has not manifested anything spectacular. He has seen the party throw around miracles, magic, teleportation, resurrection, and other things that make a legal education feel underpowered.

Rana explains what she has observed. Everyone else in the boardroom fights Sawiris’ mental influence and Luca’s physical drain. Blackstone does not. Rana’s own abilities do not work on him. She cannot read him. She does not believe she could heal him or resurrect him. Mental probes fail. Luca’s powers likely fail. Poison and supernatural influence may fail.

That is his power. Immunity. Blackstone drops a glass, cuts his finger cleaning it up, and asks whether he thought he was immune. Rana tries to heal him. Nothing happens.

The laws of physics, tragically, remain in force. He can bleed. He can be shot. But powers cannot touch him. Blackstone takes the information like a man who has just learned he is priceless and still very killable. Which is to say, badly.

9. The Law, the Board, and Sawiris

Blackstone sets the terms of their conversation. Anything that is Sawiris’ personal business remains privileged. Anything that is company business, with Rana as a full board member, he can discuss as legal counsel for the board. He frames the dinner as a protected consultation.

Rana accepts the line. She does not ask him to betray who he is.

Instead, she tells him why the storm-touched policy matters. Dr. Kovács has discovered something potentially catastrophic. Other countries will likely discover it too. If storm-touched people are defined badly, they could lose rights before they even understand what they are.

Blackstone sees the danger. He also reveals more about Sawiris’ broader plans. Through the UN and the Pharaonic States, Sawiris has become central to stabilizing global finance. Europe and the Mediterranean are aligning around him. The Pharaonic States are creating a new currency. Blackstone says there is only one reason Sawiris might bypass direct rule of Egypt:

He wants something larger. Rana understands. The boardroom may only be the first throne room.

10. The Unknown Pharaoh Cover

Rana asks Blackstone about Sawiris’ older archaeological work.

Blackstone explains that years before the Storm, Sawiris became excited about a breakthrough involving symbols on certain relics. From there, he competed with other archaeologists and collectors to find items connected to those symbols.

The Unknown Pharaoh collection was a cover. A legal and financial structure existed to fund archaeology, register possession of enough items to maintain legitimacy, and conceal what Sawiris was truly after. Blackstone’s firm helped build parts of that structure.

The breakthrough eventually led to genealogical research. A large list of names was produced and narrowed down. Blackstone oversaw aspects of that list with others. Mei Lin helped decipher the material behind it, though she was not involved in selecting contest winners.

The party, hearing this through Rana’s mental relay, realizes the obvious conclusion.

The list was the Scraphite bloodline material recovered from the silo. The contest was fixed.

Not rigged in the petty way humans usually rig things, with bribes and bad math. Fixed in the ancient way: bloodlines, symbols, and a god-tyrant’s long memory.

11. Luca Before the Storm

Blackstone also provides what he knows about Luca. Luca was added only in the month before the Storm. Sawiris said he needed more than a fixer. He needed high-end security. Luca was not physically what he is now, but Blackstone knew he was a killer.

Luca is not his real name. Blackstone’s firm arranged his papers. He was on board as Sawiris’ security. This confirms what the party has been circling: Luca was not an incidental survivor. He was placed near Sawiris before the Storm, under a false identity, as violence with paperwork.

A human weapon before becoming something worse.

12. The Apartment Building

After the movie and the memory work, Yusuf and Tariq retrace the route from the altered memory. The route itself is not magical. It winds through older, damaged parts of Alexandria: low-income housing, commercial districts, and storm-scarred areas. It has a loose star-like pattern, but the shape seems more practical than ritualistic. It looks like someone circling a target.

At the apartment building, two security officers stand near the entrance. Yusuf and Tariq bypass them and locate police tape on the second floor. Inside, they find a horror already stripped of bodies but not of evidence. Blood. Damage. The shape of violence. Tariq uses postcognition.

He sees three people in the apartment. Two are practicing energy manipulation. The third holds them inside a bubble. They are not attacking. They are learning. Then the bubble drops. Tariq recognizes the effect. Their powers are drained. The door opens. Luca enters.

He is difficult to see, but Tariq understands the presence. Luca slaughters the three and consumes what remains of them, draining them down to husks. Through a strong notice check, Tariq also hears people fleeing the apartment building, some carrying others who could not move. The lesson is hideous: ordinary people are even more vulnerable to Luca’s drain than powered ones. The party connects the scene to the soccer stadium deaths.

Luca is not just dangerous in the boardroom. He is hunting.

13. Serpent’s Kiss

The second stop is Serpent’s Kiss, a closed Egyptian restaurant. It has been shut down since before the Storm. Tariq’s postcognition reveals that it was once a mercenary contact site and front, not unlike the Russian spy village Michael encountered earlier. Before the Storm, Luca used it to move Czech war criminal soldiers into Egypt and sell their services as mercenaries.

No one uses Luca’s true name in the visions. He is always Luca.

Yusuf and Tariq search the place. There are minor abandoned items and signs of past use, but little actionable evidence. They do find a phone number on the wall and record it.

The place confirms Luca’s old life. Not a soldier. Not simply security. A broker of violent men.

14. Night Research and Prayer

The party’s night winds down in separate ways.

Tariq returns to the High House, offering a prayer of protection before turning in. Yusuf spends the night doom scrolling global news to pour fresh horror directly into his eyes. Michael arrives from Luxor with Amira Haddad, who immediately retires to her room, exhausted.

Michael speaks with Yusuf about imagery in the Temple of Hathor, especially Ra crossing the sky and battling the serpent. He begins researching temples tied to Ra’s mythic allies: Isis, Set, Bastet, and others. He is looking for the next hidden temple leads through the pattern of divine allies against the serpent. Then morning comes. Because sleep is apparently just a loading screen between crises.

15. Wednesday Morning — Naomi’s Gift and David’s Proxy

In the morning, the party prepares for the next board session.

Naomi’s lock of hair has now been with Yusuf long enough, and the morning ceremony changes it. It is no longer a reroll token. Instead it now grants Yusuf a +1 bonus to a saving throw of his choice for 24 hours.

David sends word from London. He is using the facilities available to him there to research items from his dimensional storage and will stay in England for the day. He assigns his proxy vote to Yusuf and tells Yusuf not to fail his saves. This is affectionate, in David’s emotionally armored way. Also terrible pressure. Both can be true.

The party travels to the Institute, performs the morning ceremony there, and prepares to enter the boardroom again.

16. Amira and the Sisters of Faith

Before the meeting, Rana spends time with Amira. Amira is overwhelmed by what has happened to her. She does not understand everything. History was not her strength, and now history has turned out to be older, deeper, and more alive than the world admitted.

Rana tells her that they are sisters in faith. Their paths are separate, but united. Amira expects she will spend significant time in Luxor. Rana says she plans to return there over the weekend.

The moment is quiet, but important. Amira is not just an NPC with a necklace. She is beginning to understand herself as Hathor’s priestess, and Rana gives her language for that without trying to control it. A rare, healthy religious interaction…Somebody alert civilization. (Rimshot)

17. The Master Is Waiting

The party approaches the boardroom, discussing the remaining agenda items.

Then they open the doors and Sawiris is seated at the table. But Sawiris is not there.

The Master is.

There is no subtlety this time. No hidden suggestion beneath procedure. No ambiguity. The party knows immediately that Naguib Sawiris has been overwhelmed.

Luca moves behind them from the cafeteria, outside the room but within range. The saves hit. The Fortitude drain strikes first. Tariq and Yusuf pass and lose six power levels. Rana fails and is reduced to power level one. All the party members pass their Will save, the other members of the board are not so lucky.

The Master sits in Sawiris’ body with a level of menace compared to Hannibal Lecter. He opens with amusement.

“My, but aren’t you curious?” Tariq understands that the line is for him. The Master knows Tariq opened Yusuf’s memory. Yusuf says they were his memories and his body.

The Master answers: “For how long, I wonder?”

No abstraction. No vague villain speech. Just ownership made conversational.

The board meeting begins inside a threat.

18. Pharaoh and the Docket

The Master turns to Tariq. He calls him Pharaoh.

He says things have been prepared for him. He says Yusuf is useful. He offers Tariq questions. He mocks Rana, noting that Tariq’s “girlfriend” is powerless, at least for now.

Tariq does not take the bait. He focuses on the agenda.

That choice matters. The Master is trying to pull him into emotion, identity, and attachment. Tariq responds with procedure. Not because procedure is sacred, but because it gives him somewhere to stand. He calls item 7: Orbital Infrastructure and Satellite Expansion.

The Master accepts the frame. Barely.

19. Satellites, Leylines, and the Master Learning Words

The Master speaks in favor of satellite expansion immediately.

China needs new satellites. THOTH NETWORK should launch more. China should pay for them. Rana corrects the language to leasing, and the Master adjusts.

“Yes, lease.” The correction is important. He is learning. He does not instinctively understand corporate or technological language, but he absorbs it quickly.

Tariq asks whether the satellites can detect magic or arcane signals from orbit. The Master reacts physically. His head and neck roll in a visibly serpentine manner, the first time the party sees that behavior so clearly through Sawiris’ body. He praises Tariq’s usefulness.

Then he says yes. The satellites detect patterns. They detect powers.

The party understands the distinction. The Master is describing modern satellite systems in magical language because he does not truly understand them. The satellites are not “detecting magic” in a mystical sense. They can identify leyline patterns and powered individuals through technological means now that the Storm has changed the world.

The Master then forces the vote. He raises and lowers his hand, making the controlled board members nod. Mockingly, he asks whether that counts, or whether they need to say it. He points, and they say yes. Item 7 passes. The Master has just advanced orbital infrastructure capable of mapping power from the sky. Wonderful. The surveillance state found religion.

20. Rana Takes the Floor

Tariq passes the next agenda item to Rana. The Master’s hatred hits her like pressure. He is disgusted by her. Not merely irritated. Not politically opposed. Disgusted.

Rana calls item 11: Security and Threat Assessment.

She begins by stating that the threat level to the company is high. She opens the floor to defining hostile actors.

Sophia Reyes speaks about her betrayal and attempted capture by others. The Master reacts with contempt. He calls Sophia a cow, unworthy of any of them. She was given a gift, allowed on the flight, and betrayed what he gave her. She should be destroyed.

Tariq catches the phrase and asks about her blood. The Master replies that she is not blooded. Surely Tariq knows his ancestry by now. The Master’s worldview sharpens again. Blood matters to him. Worth matters to him. Gifts are not gifts. They are claims.

Sophia is not guilty because she betrayed people. She is guilty because something he considered beneath the bloodline dared to reject its assigned place.

21. Yusuf, Gansu, and the Creature

The security discussion turns toward China. The Master says he has prevented Yusuf from pursuing everything he would have pursued. Yusuf is useful to “us.” Any lapses in security are not Yusuf’s fault. The words crawl down Yusuf’s spine.

The party asks about Gansu. The Master confirms that the experimentation there was wrong. He mentions the Mongols as a threat, but says the space program and “the creature” were also part of it. China, he says, was trying to take power from people and put it into a creature. They did not know how to do it properly. The Master speaks with moral outrage about harvesting people, draining them of power, and putting that power into a receptacle.

The hypocrisy is almost majestic. On camera, Luca begins crying.

The description is too close to his own existence. The broken receptacle hears his maker condemn the process that made him.

Yusuf tells the Master that the party would have handled it. They did not need him. The Master says Yusuf asked him for it. Yusuf tells him never to provide that again.

The Master accepts the instruction with eerie obedience:“Very well. You are the head of security. Maybe I shall not ever do that again.”

The phrasing is important. The Master is not apologizing. He is treating Yusuf’s desire and title as operational authority. He twists requests into catastrophe. And he remembers who asked.

22. Blackstone Says “Humanitarian”

Tariq asks how the company should deal with religious extremism under the security agenda.

Marcus Blackstone coughs, steps in, and pulls up legal definitions. He reframes the matter cleanly. Item 11 is not about selecting enemies, but defining how the company responds to categories of threat. Blackstone says the company has already adopted the Rana Protocol and expressed its humanitarian stance.

The word lands like poison.

Everyone affected by the Master feels overwhelming revulsion. “Human” carries the meaning of rat, vermin, crawling infestation. Not a species with dignity. Not a category of persons. Vermin on Earth. Blackstone feels none of it. He keeps talking.

He says THOTH NETWORK is an energy and satellite corporation providing financial and technological support to much of the world. It can oppose religious extremism, black market expansion, and destabilization while deferring security responses to Yusuf’s leadership.

The Master watches him. Blackstone’s immunity saves him from the aura, but not from  attention. Tariq quickly calls the vote to distract from the moment. Item 11 passes.

Blackstone may not be able to feel the Master’s contempt,  the Master may now be noticing him anyway.

23. The Master Leaves

After the vote, the Master turns back to Tariq. He asks whether they have communicated. Tariq corrects his pronunciation and says they are communicating now.

The Master says Tariq has been focused on the agenda, and he wanted to make sure they had an understanding. Then he announces that he is leaving. If he has to return, he says, he will be very busy and quite angry.

Sawiris’ body rises. The movement is wrong. Disturbing. As if the thing wearing him is still learning how to walk. He says there will be a break. Then he leaves the room.

The moment he reaches Luca, Sawiris collapses. Luca catches him and carries him away.

The Master’s presence leaves and the mental pressure ends.

The power drain remains, because Luca’s damage does not vanish just because the tyrant gets bored. The boardroom is left breathing around a hole where a man used to be.

24. The Aftermath

Tariq remains in the room to help the other board members.

Most of them remember very little. Their memories are dreamlike: boats, fragments, the sense of discussion without understanding. They do not remember the Master in full clarity.

Blackstone stays and performs confusion with the rest of them, preserving his cover.Word eventually arrives that Sawiris has fallen ill and the board will not continue that day. The meeting will resume Thursday.

The group discusses how to handle the remaining board business without forcing every procedural item into full play. Wednesday afternoon opens for recovery, follow-up, and investigation.

Tariq raises one more thread. The Rod of Command.

Now that the party understands more about bloodlines, relic awakenings, and ancient sites, he wants to revisit the place where he received it: the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. Rana confirms from prior records that, in a vision there, an animated stone statue believed to represent Philip II personally presented the rod.

The next investigation forms itself. The Master has left the boardroom.

The rod is calling them back underground.

Character Spotlights

Rana Al-Masri
Rana spends the session doing what the Master hates most: building human alliance. Her dinner with Marcus Blackstone changes the board’s strategic landscape. She tells him enough truth to make him useful without drowning him in details that could get him killed. She identifies his immunity, explains the storm-touched danger, warns him about the compromised system, and gains him as a cautious ally. In the boardroom, she holds the floor under the Master’s hatred and pushes the security discussion forward despite being drained to near-powerlessness.

Tariq Mansour
Tariq spends the session as both psychic investigator and procedural shield. He breaks into Yusuf’s second altered memory, survives the Master’s curse, and notices the recovered memory is unreliable. He then helps verify the truth on the streets of Alexandria. In the boardroom, he refuses the Master’s emotional bait, anchors himself in the agenda, asks the satellite question that reveals leyline and powered-person detection, and later moves the meeting quickly enough to keep Blackstone from being exposed too long. The false memory shows him being drained by Luca, but the investigation reveals something worse: Luca used those memories to cover his own feeding and killings. Yusuf also faces the Master directly in the boardroom. When the Master claims Gansu was something Yusuf asked for, Yusuf rejects that twisted fulfillment and orders him never to provide that kind of answer again. It is not a clean victory, but it is Yusuf asserting moral authority over the thing that used his desire.

Michael Adeyemi
Michael continues the restoration and research thread beneath Luxor. His work with Amira reveals more of the Temple of Hathor’s architecture, celestial symbolism, and hidden structure. He also pushes the party toward thinking about global virtue and public divine awareness, not as conversion, but as resistance. Later, he begins researching temples tied to Ra’s allies against the serpent, linking the hidden temple network to the mythic battle against chaos.

Marcus Blackstone
Blackstone becomes one of the most important evolving characters in the session. Rana tells him the truth about the Master, the boardroom, and himself. He learns he is storm-touched and that his power is immunity. His terror does not vanish, but it becomes informed. He also provides critical information about Sawiris’ archaeological past, the Unknown Pharaoh collection, the genealogical research behind the contest, Mei Lin’s prior role in deciphering material, and Luca’s pre-Storm false identity. In the boardroom, he uses legal framing to keep item 11 from becoming a weapon in the Master’s hands.

Luca
Luca’s horror deepens. He is not only the boardroom drain or Sawiris’ monstrous attendant. Tariq and Yusuf uncover that he has been hunting storm-touched people in Alexandria, draining them to husks, and that Serpent’s Kiss was part of his old mercenary network before the Storm. In the boardroom, he stands outside the doors like a loophole with teeth. When the Master describes China’s attempt to drain people into a creature, Luca cries, revealing the pain inside his own broken role.

Amira Haddad
Amira continues adapting to her new role as Hathor’s priestess. She remains overwhelmed but functional, accepting that history and faith are now larger than she understood. Her time with Michael in the hidden Temple of Hathor begins turning her transformation from a single divine event into an ongoing vocation.

GM Notes & World Narrative

Session Twenty-One is about the Master stepping out from behind the curtain.

Previous sessions showed his influence, his manipulation, his voice through Sawiris in flashes, and the wreckage left by his desires. This session gives the party a sustained encounter with him in the boardroom. The result is ugly in very useful ways.

He is arrogant, but not careless. He taunts Tariq because Tariq broke Yusuf’s memory block. He needles Yusuf over ownership of his body. He mocks Rana when she is powerless. He treats the board like puppets and tests whether their forced gestures count as votes. He uses modern corporate terms, but only after correction. He understands what satellites do in terms of power and patterns, but not with technical precision. He reacts to “humanitarian” with ancient disgust. He hates humanity as vermin, yet still needs human systems to rule.

That contradiction is the campaign’s current battlefield.

The Master is not simply a monster. He is learning institutions.

The session also clarifies how memory can be weaponized. Yusuf’s recovered memory is not simply hidden truth. It is contaminated, partly constructed from Luca’s own past and actions. The party must now verify even recovered memory against the world itself. Magic is no longer reliable just because it reveals something. Another delightful upgrade to everyone’s trust issues.

Blackstone’s role also changes sharply. His immunity makes him uniquely valuable, but his ethics make him complicated. He will not betray legal privilege. He will not stop being a lawyer because the apocalypse is inconvenient. That makes him frustrating, but it also makes him stable. The party needs stable.

Finally, Luca becomes more than a threat. He is evidence. Evidence of what the Master does to useful bodies. Evidence of power as hunger. Evidence that the Master can condemn in others the exact crime he commits himself.

The former ruler of Earth has entered the boardroom and somehow the agenda still mattered.

Humanity may be doomed, but its meeting procedures are annoyingly persistent.
