Overview Date: May 22–23, 2057
Session Eight fractures the party across two realities. One path leads into The Veil, a strange sanctuary where storm-changed individuals now run the facility themselves.
The other path leads into the Master’s hidden domain, where several heroes are forcibly pulled into an ancient underground chamber and compelled to assault a mysterious sealed stone mechanism guarded by elemental defenders. While half the party fights a battle they barely remember, Rana becomes the only investigator left at the Veil, uncovering the truth about Michael Adeyemi and the unusual society forming there.
By the end of the session, one of the campaign’s most important mysteries is solved:
Michael Adeyemi was mind-wiped by Tariq under the Master’s control.
And for the first time since the crash, the damage is undone.
Major Events
1. The Road to Luxor
The party departs the Naqada hospital and travels toward Luxor through worsening storm weather.
During the drive:
The group discusses training and improving their combat coordination, travel is slow going due to a storm coming in from the Mediterranean, the lingering storm produces muddy rain and low visibility.
They receive a call from Naguib Sawiris where he informs them of Corporate museum holdings in Luxor have been robbed and the thieves are linked to a man named Kareem, who is later identified as Kareem Haddad. The stolen artifacts include multiple items catalogued under “The Unknown Pharaoh” collection. Orion Global Holdings operates a private museum that funded various archeological expeditions and research under the guise of a belief in an “unknown pharaoh of great importance. He also mentions a .Thoth emergency board meeting for Monday, May 28th, 2057 in Alexandria.
Among the stolen items is a description that catches the party’s attention:
A mirror nearly identical to the magical mirror they already recovered.
This reinforces the emerging theory: Certain relics exist in paired or mirrored sets.
The group decides the priority remains locating Michael Adeyemi at The Veil
2. Arrival at The Veil
The Veil appears less like a hospital and more like a small self-contained campus.
Important observations:
Exterior storm damage exists but the interior grounds remain operational
The gates are open — no one is imprisoned here
Clausius-powered systems run throughout the campus
Multiple vehicles and deliveries are arriving
Tariq detects the presence of a medium sized Clausius engine somewhere on the property.
Shortly after arriving, the party encounters Kareem Haddad, unloading Clausius-related equipment with several associates. Yusuf assesses him:He appears to be a criminal enforcer, not a strategic mastermind.
3. The Master Intervenes
While Yusuf is examining Kareem and the equipment with his X-Ray vision, Tariq mentally links with Yusuf to see what Yusuf is seeing. Something goes terribly wrong.
This reveals an unknown vulnerability, The Master exploits the connection immediately.
Without warning:
Tariq, David, and Yusuf are teleported away and Rana is left behind alone at the Veil
4. The Chamber Beneath the Stone
David Hassan under the mind control of Tariq teleports the three heroes intoa massive underground chamber. Behind David, Tariq, and Yusuf, a long descending shaft was the only means of entry into the chamber the three comrades teleported into. The chamber’s dominating feature was a circular stone mechanism resembling a hieroglyphic Stargate-like seal, unmoving, unbroken. Tariq’s unconscious form hovered behind David and Yusuf, the master’s presence filling the chamber, an invisible hand grasping the heroes will. David and Yusuf stare at the barrier in frustration, remembering numerous previous attempts to breach the barrier.
The Master forces them to:
Attempt to decipher the mechanism, Assault the seal, and fight off repeated waves of stone elementals that rise in defense of the great seal.
The encounter is brutal. During the fight:
• Multiple hero points are spent (many forcibly by the Master)
The seal never opens and the party is badly injured and exhausted
Eventually they are released from their torment, sent back to Tariq’s safe house where Rana has retreated to. But the experience confirms something terrifying:
The Master can completely puppet Tariq and partially control the others through him.
5. Rana Alone at the Veil
While the others fight underground, Rana continues the investigation.
She discovers several truths:
The Veil is run by the patients themselves. Many of the people appearing to be staff are actually residents with storm-awakened powers.
She meets:
Dr. Samira Nadine a former patient now helping manage the facility. Samira explains that Michael Adeyemi’s condition is severe.
6. Michael Adeyemi
Rana is brought to the dormitory where Michael is staying.
He is guarded by a massive man called simply:
“The Giant” — Later self identified as Hassan Darwish
Observations:
Michael behaves like a four-year-old child, He is mute
He shows almost no independent cognition, Hassan is fiercely protective of him.
Rana performs a medical examination and confirms: The damage is mental, not physical.
Using telepathy she discovers something chilling: Michael’s surface memories contain images of Tariq attacking him. The mind-wipe occurred during the immediate aftermath of the crash.
7. Elias the Painter
Before leaving the Veil, Rana encounters Elias, an art-therapy patient whose powers manifest through painting.
His paintings depict: Narmer and Menes, Alexander carrying the Rod, The Storm over Naqada, The Architect King, A massive serpent identified as Apep.
The paintings appear to be: Memories from other people across time.
Elias himself does not understand his power. He simply paints what appears in his mind.
8. Reunion
After roughly three hours, the other heroes suddenly reappear in Tariq’s Luxor property.
They are exhausted, Injured, Low on hero points, their memories are initially scrambled by the Master’s influence.
Only David and Tariq remember the full truth of what happened, Tariq’s memories provided by the control he wielded over David and Yusuf on Sawiris’ behalf.
9. Return to the Veil
The party returns the next morning. Rana warns Tariq thatMichael’s remaining memories portray Tariq as his attacker. Tariq uses illusion to conceal his appearance before approaching.
10. Lucien Moreau
Before reaching Michael’s dorm, the group encounters Lucien Moreau, a charismatic resident radiating magical power. Everyone immediately recognizes the sensation, realizing that Lucien possesses a constant aura effect similar to Pembroke’s field. Moreau seems fascinated by Michael’s case and encourages Rana to help him.
11. Restoring Michael Adeyemi
Rana boosts Tariq’s mental defenses so he can resist the Master’s influence. Tariq then attempts to reverse the mind-wipe. The effort succeeds. Michael Adeyemi’s mind is restored.
When Tariq lowers his illusion the moment grows emotionally volatile, Michael’s last memory is Tariq attacking him during the crash and he initially panics upon seeing Tariq again.

1. The Master Uses Tariq as a Puppet
Through Tariq’s powers the Master can:
Control the team using their powers and forcing them to perform actions
2. The Seal Beneath the Stone
A mysterious mechanism guarded by elementals appears to be one of the Master’s major objectives.
Its hieroglyphic wheel must likely be deciphered.

4. Michael Adeyemi Was Mind-Wiped
During the crash aftermath Tariq erased Michael’s mind under the Master’s control.
The damage has now been reversed.
