Session Overview
Session Seven opens the morning of May 22, 2057,
with the party waking to an avalanche of delayed headlines as media networks
come back online and Thoth gets hammered with news alerts. The world’s tone is
split: half terrified, half triumphant, and almost universally obsessed with
one thing: powers are real, and they’re being
filmed.
But while the world spirals into commentary, the heroes focus on what matters: finding Vakeman Chou’s missing daughters and following leads connected to crash survivors and the growing hunt for “changed” people.
This session delivers two major wins:
· The party rescues the three Chinese women from a magical trap.
·
The party travels to Naqada,
visits the crash-area hospital, and learns that Michael Adeyemi has
been transferred to a private facility in Luxor called The
Veil.
Key Events
1) Morning Media Surge: The World Wakes Up
The day begins with relentless notifications: networks returning, headlines
flooding in, and a global media fixation on storms, monsters, bloodlines
awakening, and the rise of powered individuals.
The party discusses the pattern:
· Densely populated regions (Mediterranean, Europe, Africa) were hit harder.
· The U.S./Canada/South America show more “lightning strike” anomalies rather than full-wave transformation.
·
No reliable statistics exist yet, just
politicians posturing and panic riding shotgun with opportunism.
Tariq also confirms a separate concern: Pembroke’s flight
is “all good” and kept off the books.
2) Yusuf Contacts Vakeman Chou: The “Girls” Aren’t Couriers
Yusuf reaches out to Vakeman Chou, who appears exhausted and desperate. Yusuf reports:
· They reviewed security footage.
· They saw the girls enter and leave the building.
· They saw Chou’s security team enter later and get slaughtered.
·
The briefcase was recovered.
Then the gut punch lands:
Chou clarifies the three women aren’t just employees. They’re
his daughters.
Yusuf adds the courier’s theory: Mossad
abducted them. Chou reacts badly, muttering that “they know what’s in the
briefcase,” and then reveals the core contents: satellite photos documenting
U.S. and Israeli systems intercepting nuclear launches during
the storm chaos.
Chou promises to leverage Israeli contacts and get back to them.
3) Breakfast with Naomi & Mei Lin: Shelter, Training, and the Master
Over breakfast, Naomi Brooks and Mei
Lin join the group. They’re cleaned up, rested, and emotionally
raw. They admit they don’t know what they are now or what they’re supposed to
do, but they want to learn and resist the Master’s
influence. They continue using sign language
whenever referring to the Master.
Key moments:
·
Tariq still can’t read Naomi’s mind, and
Rana notices Naomi has circuitry in one eye,
suggesting cybernetic alteration complicating telepathy.
·
Mei Lin demonstrates language shifts:
after responding in Egyptian, she suddenly speaks in a tone that triggers a
flashback to the plane chanting and
reveals she just spoke Sumerian.
·
The group discusses the 45-day
storm clock tied to forfeiting shares for those still missing,
placing urgency on tracking unaccounted passengers.
The Chinese Girls Rescue
4) The Breakthrough: A Grainy Still Image
Yusuf’s day-long information sweep pays off: he finds a frozen street camera
image showing “two and a half women” heading down stairs into a building near
the Fountain Blue. It’s grainy, but it’s a lead.
The group agrees: check it immediately before committing to a long flight to Nakata.
David teleports them to the area.
5) The Location: Cigar Shop Above, Costume & Magician Shop Below
The stairway leads past a tobacconist/cigar shop
into a lower-level costume and magician shop.
The stores look closed since the storm, but the downstairs door is open.
Inside: burlesque costumes, stage wear, mannequins, magician props, sawing
boxes, card tricks, and a workshop table for repairs and costume construction.
The party detects magic emanating from the magician section, specifically a large
floor-to-ceiling mirror that radiates power.
6) The Trap: The Girls Are Inside the Mirror
When the party focuses on the mirror, they see the three Chinese women
trapped within it.
David, now a journeyman and fluent in
ancient Egyptian, recognizes the mechanism: it’s essentially a simple
dimensional pocket. He speaks a command word (functionally a
“knock spell”) and opens it.
The women have been held in warped time:
· At first they appear frozen, like stasis.
·
Once the mirror opens fully, it’s clear
time wasn’t stopped. They’re dehydrated, forced to endure bodily needs, and are
in rough shape, but alive.
Yusuf rushes to help them out. Everyone receives a Hero
Point for the rescue.
David sets the mirror to an “off” configuration, but because the mirror is damaged/broken,
it can’t safely be shut down. He covers it instead to prevent accidental
trapping.
7) Recovery, Extraction, and the Mirror
David provides food and water from his dimensional storage. The girls are
too overwhelmed to even process the party’s larger powers.
They debate moving the mirror:
· Teleporting it is risky due to the broken condition and the “unformed/reformed” effect of teleportation.
· Rana and David coordinate Move Object/Telekinesis to stabilize it during transport.
·
They call for a large vehicle rather than
teleporting the girls or mirror.
Yusuf calls Chou: “We have your girls.”
Chou requests they bring the girls to the Chinese Consulate
in Alexandria.
8) The Drop-Off: Chinese Consulate
They drive the rescued women to the Chinese Consulate. It’s orderly, calm,
and already expecting them. A consulate official thanks them “on behalf of a
grateful nation” and indicates higher-level recognition will follow.
On the way, Tariq conducts a mental review (quietly) to understand how they ended up trapped.
What Tariq learns:
·
The briefcase wasn’t flashy: simple,
meant not to stand out.
· After delivery, they went for leisure, saw the costume shop, went inside, played with costumes and props.
·
When all three stood in front of the
mirror together, the mirror flared and pulled them in.
·
One sister, Aria,
has training and a mental block. Tariq pushes through and discovers she’s
effectively an agent connected to her
father’s anti-communist organization and she looked at the photos,
likely made copies, and wasn’t supposed to.
That revelation turns the rescue into something bigger than “missing persons.”
The Naqada Hospital Visit
9) Departure: Flight to the Crash Epicenter
After securing the girls and storing the mirror back at Tariq’s penthouse
(covered, faced away, locked down), the party pivots to Naqada.
They take Tariq’s Clausius-engine powered jet with minimal staffing.
Surprise onboard: the stewardess is Sophia Reyes,
the flight attendant survivor who had been hiding near the airfield and trying
to avoid “hunters.”
Sophia reports:
· Dragon-men style hunters moved through the area.
· Another pattern: a “water thing” and an “air thing,” appearing separately but in the same overall sweep.
·
She’s developed a protective purple glow
effect that helped her survive close calls.
10) Arrival and Security Protocol
At the airfield, Tariq’s security team verifies identity with biometrics due
to rising reports of shape-changers
impersonating people.
They choose a driver-equipped SUV and head toward the hospital.
Rana looks up background info: it’s a small hospital (100–200 capacity on
paper), recognized heavily for storm-era rescue performance.
As they approach Naqada:
· Much of the town is evacuated.
· Encampments, tents, emergency vehicles remain, but many look abandoned.
·
The hospital itself looks battered, “hit
by 10,000 lightning strikes,” and has become a refuge for those severely
altered by the storm.
11) Hospital Perimeter: The Car Dies
Within about 100 yards, the SUV abruptly cuts out completely,
as if drained. Thought phones still work. The driver swears he didn’t do it.
They manually exit the vehicle.
A doctor approaches on a hovering scooter, followed by a “menagerie” of
storm-changed individuals (from a bee-humanoid to a towering tree-like being).
The doctor is tense, expecting another patient transfer wave.
Rana clarifies: they’re here for information and to help.
12) The Lead: Michael Adeyemi Was Transferred
The party asks about Michael Adeyemi (plane
crash passenger). The doctor pulls up records and confirms him on the third
image.
Critical information:
· Michael was transferred to a private facility in Luxor.
·
The private hospital is named: The
Veil.
·
Reason for transfer: after initial injury
healing and regaining consciousness, Michael presented as medically unstable,
with severe disorientation/amnesia requiring sanitarium-level care.
As this conversation ends, both cars power back on. The doctor implies it
was likely the curious altered patients who “did” it, without fully
understanding how.
The doctor introduces himself: Dr. Zavata
(VA-V-A-T-T-A), a respected specialist in deformities/corrective measures now
managing a nightmare scenario outside his old specialization.
Rana exchanges contact info and warns about hunters targeting powered
people. Dr. Zavata admits they’ve had few visitors since rescue teams withdrew,
and they’re trying to preserve dignity and stability while transferring
patients slowly to Alexandria when possible.
Session Close
With the hospital lead secured, the party agrees on next steps:
· Crash site
· The Veil in Luxor
·
Temple of Hatshepsut
(location clarified in relation to Luxor and earlier artifact recoveries)
Notable NPCs and Entities Introduced / Highlighted
· Vakeman Chou (confirmed: father of the three missing women; now a cultivated world contact resource)
· Aria Chou, Celine Chou, Lyra Chou (rescued; Aria revealed as trained operative)
· Dr. Zavata (Nakata hospital leader)
· Sophia Reyes (flight attendant survivor; hunted; minor protective power)
· “Air thing” and “Water thing” hunters (Sophia’s report)
· Storm-altered “menagerie” patients near Nakata hospital (bee humanoid, treant-like entity, others)
