The Master's Cypher

Tariq is reading directly from Mei Lin’s deciphered translation — a reconstruction of pre-dynastic tablets written in an archaic Sumerian-Akkadian hand describing events in Kemet (Egypt). 

The Tablets of Shinar

The Record of the Two Crowns (Translated from archaic cuneiform recovered from the Land of Shinar)

Thus is recorded in the Year Before Counting,

When the River had not yet chosen its Master,

And the Black Land was divided against itself.

There arose in the South a man of iron will and unbroken gaze.

His birth name was not Narmer. That name was given later.

He was born beneath no crown, For there was no crown.

Upper and Lower were two lands. Two peoples.

Two gods that did not speak to one another.He was not born to rule.

He was born to end division.

The Journey to the Pillars

It is written that the man who would be called Narmer traveled beyond the cataracts, beyond the sight of men, into the place the scribes of Shinar called The Pillars of Creation.

There the sky bent low. There the earth remembered its shaping. 

There stood the remnants of the Titans —Not gods. Not men.

But the First Builders who shaped stone when time was soft. 

They tested him.They tested his hunger for dominion. They tested his fear of death.

They tested his willingness to carry consequence. He did not kneel. He did not beg.

He asked instead:

"If I unite the lands, who binds me?"

And the Pillars answered.

The Belt of Giants

From the stone of the First Age they forged for him a girdle. Not ornament. Not armor. A Covenant.

The Belt of Giants.

It bore weight not of metal but of oath.The loops were empty.

They told him:

“This is not yours to wear. It marks the Guardian who stands beside the Crown.

Strength without wisdom will destroy what you unite."

Thus Narmer did not wear it.  He appointed one. The first Guardian.

The first who stood between Pharaoh and annihilation.

This Guardian was named Sentinel of Ra,The Belt answered not to blood, But to recognition.

The Blade Before the Crown

When Narmer returned to the lands of the Black River, he did not carry the Belt alone.

He bore a blade. 

The scribes describe it thus:

“Its edge was not forged by flame.  Its length hummed like a drawn bowstring. Its surface bore markings that changed when read.”

This was the Blade of Authority. Not for conquest. For finality.

Where chiefs resisted unification, he did not slaughter cities. He severed inevitability.

The Blade was proof that division could end.

It is written:

“The sword knew the language of both lands.” And so did Narmer.

The Unification

Narmer did not claim Pharaoh.  Because there was no Pharaoh. He united Upper and Lower.

He broke the old borders. He established the royal line. But he did not inherit a throne.

He built one. Only when the Two Lands were bound did his son ascend.

That son was called Menes. Menes was the first Pharaoh.

Because Narmer created the thing Menes ruled.

Menes and the Inheritance

Menes inherited:  The Throne, The Dual Crown, The memory of the Pillars

The Blade, The Covenant of the Belt

But the tablets record a warning.

“The father walked among the Builders.  The son walked among men.”

Menes wore the crown of governance. Narmer bore the burden of transformation.

Thus the first Pharaoh ruled a world already changed.

The Regalia of Office

The tablets of Shinar conclude with an inventory.

They describe four offices bound to one sovereignty:

1. The Blade – Judgment and severance of division

2. The Belt – Strength restrained by covenant

3. The Tear of the Sun – Mercy that burns corruption

4. The Rod of Command – Authority recognized by the living

They state:

“When these are gathered again in one generation, The River will remember its First Shape.”

Final Fragment

The final surviving lines are damaged but partially legible:

“The Architect who binds minds shall seek these. For he fears what was before Pharaoh.

He fears what was before crown. He fears the age when men spoke to Builders. 

He fears a kingdom not built by his design.”

Session 6: Lost and Found

SESSION 06 — Lost and Found  May 21, 2057

Overview

Session 06 is not about conquest.  It is about custody. What is sealed.

What is suspected. What is relocated, and what may never have been lost at all.

The Fontainebleau is not stormed this session.  It is studied.

Two briefcases remain closed. One fractured man is moved.

And the crash of April 12 is finally brought back into focus.

 

I. The Vault Without Breach

The titanium vault door is bypassed. The chamber is entered.

But restraint defines the moment.

Two safety deposit containers are recovered:

One belonging to Sebastian Alistair Pembroke III, One belonging to El Silencio

Neither is opened.

 Pembroke’s Case

Through inference, psychic reading, and contextual understanding, the party determines:

It likely contains Satellite imagery, Sensitive intelligence, Joint United States / Israeli military data

Material tied to missile interception and orbital destruction

It remains sealed. Pembroke does not deny its importance.

He does not confirm its contents either.

Its power lies in what it could expose — not what is seen.

Silencio’s Case

Yusuf employs X-ray vision.

Inside:  Financial routing documentation, Payment confirmations, Structured shell corporations, Backup identity materials.

The case itself is not opened in the room. Silencio watches. He understands discretion.

Respect is maintained.

II. The Embedded Bomb in the box below

The Safety Deposit Box beneath the Spaniards holds a surprise

Inside the lower deposit box:

A Clasius charged bomb with an estimated value no less than six figures.

Precise. Professional. It was designed to erase evidence. Not kill indiscriminately.

The payment routing chain connects through layered French shell companies — subsidiaries masking a parent entity. Corporate assassination architecture.

This confirms: The French President’s death was funded through industrial camouflage.

Silencio does not appear shocked. He appears unsurprised.

III. Étienne Marceau — Extraction

The concierge cannot remain at the Fontainebleau. His doppelgänger bloodline remains unstable.

His identity fractures under stress.

More concerning: Sebastian Pembroke’s passive amplification field worsens his condition.

The decision is made.  Étienne is relocated to the Alexander Research Facility.

Under Dr. Mirela Kovács’ observation, a subtle anomaly appears:

Through camera feed, Étienne’s image sharpens. Younger. Aligned.

More coherent than his physical presence. The anomaly is real. Not possession.

Not haunting. Identity diffusion under energetic pressure.

He is not insane. He is destabilized.

 

IV. Sebastian Alistair Pembroke III — The Living Field

The truth is presented carefully. Pembroke is not the hotel’s curse. He is the amplifier. 

Within approximately one mile:

Emotions intensify by one degree. Fear worsens. Anger sharpens.

Paranoia compounds. Courage edges toward recklessness.

He was at the Fontainebleau during the storm.

The hotel did not awaken. It was supercharged.

Pembroke absorbs this quietly. For the first time, he understands that his presence is not symbolic.

It is catalytic.

V. April 12 – April 13

April 12, 2057 – 2:20 PM

The Alexandrian Storm breaks.

Flight 01 goes down. The sky fractures. The storm lasts just over 24 hours.

On April 13, an EMS alert goes out from a Naqada hospital:

They have received the last patient they can physically hold. The facility is full.

The unidentified black male admitted that day is suspected to be Michael Adeyemi.

The storm did not simply strike Alexandria. Its damage rippled outward immediately.

Naqada becomes a point of convergence.

 

VI. Naomi & Mei Lin — Not All Survivors Were Prepared

The first survivors are met in person. They were not trained. They were not conditioned.

They were not approached by handlers.

Naomi:

Biomechanical arm architecture, Ancient language access, Physical enhancement

Mei Lin:

Violet psychic constructs, Defensive mental shielding, Cognitive amplification,

They do not seek power.  They seek orientation. Sanctuary is offered.

The musician speaks plainly.  “The lines were already there.” Ley lines.

The flight path was not accidental. The itinerary was not tourism.

Sawiris did not assemble passengers randomly.  Each carried something.

Knowledge. Bloodline. Historical weight. Mythic tether.

Michael Adeyemi remains unresolved.

VIII. The Party reviews an Email — The Patent Office

Aegis & Blackstone request retrieval of patent archives.

The request is overly broad. Legally insulated.  Strategically vague.

One entry stands out:

Israeli and American joint research correspondence (non-public).

Given the satellite revelations and missile interception data believed to be in Pembroke’s sealed case, the connection is obvious. Someone wants containment. Repeatedly.

IX. Closing Beat — Lost and Found

What was lost:

Stability, Innocence, Simplicity

What was found:

Contingency, Amplification, Survivors

A hospital in Naqada holding a name that will not stay buried

The Storm did not end when the plane hit the ground. And now the party is collecting the fragments.

Tariq begins relocating magical artifacts from his warehouses, removing them from obvious storage and redistributing them into secured and undisclosed locations. Ownership is no longer the concern. Access is. If others are searching, he intends to ensure they find nothing.

Rana continues her study of the Tower of Babel Tome and the ritual fragments recovered from Warehouse 10. What she uncovers reframes her own power entirely: the Ankh she carries is not merely a divine symbol. It is identified within the Tome as The Tear of Ra.

When the party finally approaches the Fontainebleau, it is not impulsive. It is informed.

The building is closed and storm damaged.

Tariq Mansour

Rather than rushing toward the Fontainebleau, Tariq takes a critical step: he begins relocating magical artifacts from his primary warehouse holdings.

His reasoning is simple and correct:

·         Power nodes attract attention.

·         Consolidation invites targeting.

Artifacts are separated, hidden, and repositioned. This is not dramatic. It is strategic.

The Pharaoh does not keep treasures in predictable vaults, he ensures no one knows where they are.

Tariq does not research the hotel at this stage. His focus remains internal—protecting what he already controls before expanding the battlefield.

The hotel stands silent and untouched. Glass façade, Monumental atrium, Perfect stillness.

Closed since April 12, 2057. The doors open.

·         The lobby has bloodstains, bullet damage, and the stench of unwashed survivors

And behind the desk stands a concierge who should not be there.

He greets the party calmly.

His demeanor is polite, but slightly delayed. His knowledge of post-Storm events is incomplete. He references time inconsistently.

Subtle inconsistencies appear:

·         Reflection misalignment in nearby glass.

·         Facial tension not matching speech cadence.

·         A sense of occupancy without presence.

A careful probe confirms the suspicion, the concierge has been transformed, his bloodline awakened, he is a doppelgänger.

Returning to the only thing he remembers or can hold onto.  He doesn’t understand what is happening to him.

After The Arbiter’s healing touch, it is revealed that the concierge is a Frenchman, Étienne Marceau Senior Guest Relations Manager at the Fontainebleau Alexandria.

Interrogation of the concierge regarding the missing Chinese operatives reveals:

·         They delivered the briefcase to be stored in a safety deposit inside the vault

·         No evidence of violence, they left the hotel soon after

·         The Storm destroyed most security footage

Sublevel schematics reveal architectural inconsistencies and places Yusuf cannot penetrate with his XRAY power:

·         Extended service corridors

·         Reinforced vault-like chambers

·         Unlisted structural segments beneath the entertainment complex

The operatives were not attacked at the hotel, they disappeared after they left. The mercenaries were attacked at the hotel but that was much later.

The concierge memory is fleeting and its obvious that he fled when combat broke out but his information is chilling. He claims that the mercenaries were hunted by “something” in the hotel. Yusuf remarked well that something used a gun, which caused the unstable hotel man to cackle and warn, “the kitchen is haunted too.”

6. To the Sublevels and the Vaults

The concierge explains that the vault isn’t working properly, something has altered the electronic key pads and makes it impossible to open them.

The Doppelganger leads them down to the 2^nd sublevel. The central atrium acts as a vertical channel.Glass curvature amplifies lit pathways, all leading to a large vault door, an unoccupied guards seat, and an electronic key pad radiating magical haze with digital signals showing malfunction. The Vault door, 12 foot thick titanium. A visible chamber to the right holds smaller safety deposits, akin in spacing and style to train station lockers. This chamber is beyond the vault but can be visually seen…which gives David the beginnings of a plan

Sublevels alignment suggest geometric ritual grid spacing.

The Fontainebleau is not improvised infrastructure.It was built to hold something or many somethings…or to prepare for something.

Controlled, gentlemanly footsteps announce the arrival of someone new, Sebastian Alistair Pembroke III approaches, calling out in recognition to David Hassan. His arrival reminds everyone of their first time near a Clausius engine, power and what is later identified as magic radiate off of Pembroke, emotional reactions greatly enhanced, his presence adds an edge of danger.

Just as the briefcase situation was being explained another presence was felt down the hall, David observing a disturbing camouflaged movement, unable to clearly see who or what was there…and then a voice.

“How did you figure it out?” the accent and words spoken in Spanish.

The voice continues questioning, unseen, seemingly recognizing Pembroke. Then silence and absence..

7. Ending Beat — A plan emerges

The party agrees to attempt to try to teleport inside the vault and recover the briefcase. Tariq studies Pembroke’s thoughts and knows that the Brit believes satellite photos belonging to Israel and The United State of America are in the briefcase.

Tariq has not exposed his relocated artifacts.
Rana now understands the Ankh differently.
Yusuf confirms this is controlled space.
David sees silence at an international level.

The reflections in the glass of this hotel seem to linger a fraction longer than it should.

The party secures the refugees in Mansour apartments nearby, but the activity immediately draws attention. Dragon Men do not arrive in force. They arrive efficiently. Spherical Drones, Nullification fields, darkness, and coordinated movement make it clear that this is not a random predatory group. This is a system built to counter people exactly like the party.

The session unfolds as a series of hard choices under pressure. A stand is attempted. It fails. Not catastrophically, but decisively. Retreat becomes the correct call, not the cowardly one. Artifacts are recovered under fire, refugees are extracted,—but the illusion of dominance is shattered.

What follows is consolidation rather than celebration. Refugees are relocated and stabilized. Resources are spent. Favors are called in. And for the first time, magic expands beyond personal powers into something slower, riskier, and far more dangerous: ritual.

The session ends not with victory, but with infrastructure, new knowledge, and the uneasy awareness that every escalation now leaves a paper trail someone else will follow.

This is the first time the party builds something that:

5. Revelation — Magic Expands Sideways

Artifact analysis reveals a new axis of power: ritual magic.

The discovery of the Tower of Babel Tome and pages of ritual primers reframes what magic can do in this world. Powers are fast. Rituals are slow, dangerous, and transformative.

Rana is formally placed on the Ritualist path with the acquisition of the ritual scroll fragment, gaining access to magic that requires:

6. Political Fallout — A Favor Cashed

David’s earlier British favor is converted into tangible assistance. The help is real. It is also final. The ledger is now balanced. The company makes clear that all favors have been paid, and now David works for them.

Support arrives with expectations, oversight, and limits. The party is reminded that geopolitical goodwill is not renewable.

With the immediate crisis stabilized, intelligence surfaces regarding:
