Primary Locations: Silo Site → Crash Zone near Naqada → The Veil
Session Overview
Session Twelve begins in the aftermath of the silo battle and ends with the party carrying world-altering knowledge back to the Veil.
At the silo, the group is forced to think beyond combat for the first time in hours. They sort dangerous magical materials, debate the meaning of newly recovered objects, and begin connecting the artifact network to older systems of ritual, crafting, and true-name magic. Rana also confronts the Egyptian military over the summary execution of one captured powered terrorist, then makes the far more consequential decision to address the world publicly.
What follows is the single most public miracle of the campaign so far. Rana resurrects five dead men in front of soldiers, officials, cameras, and the .thoth network, then delivers a direct statement to governments and civilians alike: protect your people, confront corruption, and do not assume that old systems of authority will be enough in the world that is coming.
The second half of the session turns backward. The party returns to the crash site where their story began and, through Tariq’s postcognition, uncovers the clearest view yet of the moment the Master took hold through Naguib Sawiris. They learn that the pilot was consumed in the Master’s first attempt to take full corporeal form, that the first hero point was spent by Sawiris on Tariq in genuine concern, and that the shadow eruption through the plane bound the group together in ways they are only now beginning to understand.
By the time the party returns to the Veil, the session has answered some of the oldest questions in the campaign while opening a much larger one: now that the world has seen what the Arbiter of Ra can do, what happens next?
The Story So Far
After destroying the silo’s powered defense cell and exposing a major black-market artifact hub, the party has emerged not only victorious but visible. The group’s internal mistrust has largely been resolved, and their conflict with the Master is beginning to shift from paranoia and manipulation to evidence and structure.
Major Events & Key Moments
1. Opening — Securing the Silo
The Egyptian government arrives in force and begins prioritizing the capture of the surviving powered prisoners. The party learns why “The Grenade” was executed immediately: he was on a terrorist blacklist for bombings and supplying explosives to extremist groups. While the authorities process prisoners, the party begins triaging the contents of the silos, identifying which magical objects are usable, which are dangerous, and which are better understood as crafting components than finished relics.
2. Artifacts, Components, and Dangerous Knowledge
The recovered materials prove more complex than simple loot. David recognizes that many items can shape or empower rituals. Tariq realizes the real value of the haul lies in quantity, because repeated prototypes make artificing realistic. The group also identifies several especially notable pieces: the arcane sigil page made of scraphite, amber-liquid containers, the Clausius conduction spine, vials, the time-and-space rings, and the twelve magical jack-like reroll tokens. The scraphite page sparks immediate alarm because the party connects it to the possibility of true-name magic.
3. Rana’s Questions, Rana’s Decision
During this same stretch, Rana decides to speak to the troops on site and then to the world. Before the public event, she and the group also discuss Ra, the reality of gods, the dark tethers of the Master, and the mistake they made in previously suspecting Tariq of being the Master. Rana apologizes directly. Tariq accepts, acknowledging that it wasn’t an unreasonable suspicion. The party also recognizes that their shared hero point pool is itself part of their tether to the Master and that Sawiris was connected to that same pool when they first met him.
4. A Public Miracle
With Egyptian troops and battle-suit units set behind her, and with the event being recorded and broadcast, Rana resurrects the five dead soldiers one by one. The first resurrection lands like a pillar of sunlight; the later ones visibly exhaust her, leaving part of her hair white. The military personnel on site break down in awe, panic, prayer, and confusion. Afterward, Rana delivers a speech identifying herself as the Arbiter of Ra, a Priestess of Judgment, and calls on governments to protect their people, confront corruption, and act with accountability. She also speaks directly to the storm-touched, promising that they will not be forgotten. The .thoth network freezes under the weight of the moment.
5. Departure and the Decision About Sawiris
Once the crowd becomes overwhelming, David teleports the group away. In private, they discuss whether to break with Sawiris entirely. Yusuf argues for caution about making him stronger. Rana argues that abandoning him now would mean surrendering resources while still being tethered to the Master. Tariq agrees they should wait for the Monday board meeting and learn more before making any final break. The group chooses, at least for now, to keep moving within the structure around Sawiris rather than flee from it.
6. Return to the Crash Site
The party teleports into the blackout zone near the original plane crash. The area is far larger and stranger than expected: multiple aircraft wrecks, satellite-like debris, visible ley-line glow, and the unmistakable sense that the region is both magically saturated and physically dangerous. Government secrecy around the zone now makes more sense as containment, not just censorship.
7. Tariq’s Postcognition — The Master Emerges
At the wreck of their own plane, memory and magic collide. Tariq uses postcognition and sees Naguib Sawiris spending the first hero point on him out of genuine concern, only for shadow to erupt through Sawiris and the plane, binding itself to the group. He learns that the pilot was consumed in the Master’s first attempt to take corporeal form, and that Sawiris’s anger about Michael Adeyemi’s presence on the flight helped shape the first manipulations that followed the crash. The storm itself is revealed as a world-spanning magical upheaval tied to ley lines, not a local anomaly.
8. The CIA Plane
The party next visits the CIA aircraft site. There they find the wreck of a military transport and, beside it, a U.S.-marked rocket casing that is deeply and dangerously magical. The entire area radiates dread. The plane has already been heavily stripped, and the party realizes that while under the Master’s influence they may have been the ones who removed the most valuable contents. The rocket casing is left alone for the time being because it is too dangerous to experiment on without a plan.
9. Return to the Veil
The group ends the session by returning to the Veil. The mood there is lighter because the silo threat is gone, and the residents have already seen Rana’s broadcast. Unlike the crowd at the silo, they are not shocked into chaos because they already know her. Rana finally sleeps deeply and safely. Tariq keeps watch over her and spends part of the night crafting and reflecting. David studies the scrolls in his dimensional space and learns that they contain zero-level and first-level spell material, plus a true-name bloodline registry. He also discovers that the lapis shard on his weapon is tied to funerary protection against undead or underworld threats. Yusuf reviews world events as the outside world begins reacting to Rana’s miracle.
Character Spotlights
Rana Al-Masri
Defines the session. She questions military execution, publicly resurrects five
dead men, declares herself the Arbiter of Ra, and becomes the first openly
miraculous public figure of the campaign.
Tariq Mansour
Helps define the cosmological side of the session, both in group discussion
about gods and in the postcognitive breakthrough at the crash site, where he
finally sees the moment the Master took root through Sawiris.
David Hassan
Provides much of the magical and scholarly grounding, from artifact triage to
the scroll discoveries to the interpretation of the lapis shard’s funerary
role.
Yusuf Khalid
Pushes the practical questions that keep the group honest, especially about
Sawiris, operational risk, and what can safely be done with dangerous
knowledge.
GM Notes & World Narrative
Session Twelve confirms several major facts without fully solving them. Sawiris is not simply identical to the Master, but the Master took hold through him at the crash. The hero point pool is part of the same tethering structure linking the group. The pilot was consumed in the Master’s first attempt at bodily manifestation. And Rana’s miracle was not private myth but public world history.
Loot, Clues, & Reveals
Items Acquired
Recovered silo materials include magical ritual components, the scraphite sigil
page, amber-liquid containers, the Clausius conduction spine, spatial rings,
crafting materials, and twelve ritualized reroll tokens.
Clues Found
The crash zone is a true ley-line disaster area, not just a crash site. The
party’s plane was likely one of the earliest to go down there. The CIA site
contains a highly magical U.S. rocket casing.
Reveals or Twists
Sawiris spent the first hero point on Tariq before the shadow eruption overtook
him. The pilot was consumed in the Master’s first corporeal attempt. The hero
point pool itself is tied to the Master’s network. Rana can resurrect the dead,
but doing so exacts a visible cost.
