SESSION 33 — ANGELS OF ASWAN

SESSION OVERVIEW

The battle with the Dragon Men was over, but Elephantine Island was nowhere near finished with them.

With the surviving Dragon Men fleeing and the newly awakened temple still blazing with divine power, the group discovered that the violence had only been the visible edge of a much larger event. Magical pulses were rolling outward from somewhere beneath or within the nearby Elephantine Island Museum. The air itself had become unnaturally dense, elemental forces were bleeding into the physical world, and the Russians encountered at the museum appeared to have been caught in something they did not understand any better than the heroes did.

While Tariq, Yusuf, and Michael investigated the museum, Rana remained with the newly awakened priesthood and David began the difficult work of stabilizing and consecrating the temple. What followed was less a battle than a collision between ancient systems coming back online. The temple called to the Nile. The Nile answered. Air and water met with catastrophic force, the museum was destroyed, Elephantine Island was inundated, and the river itself began changing far beyond Aswan.

Yet the disaster also completed something. The temple survived. Its priests awakened. An ancient granite step pyramid beneath the sanctuary began restoring itself. The flood surrendered relics that had been buried or scattered for centuries. And while Aswan reeled, the heroes spent the next hours rescuing civilians until social media supplied them with a name they had not chosen for themselves:

The Angels of Aswan.

By nightfall, however, the consequences had already spread far beyond Egypt. Britain wanted to know what the awakening meant for the modern world. Someone was attempting to sell stolen satellite intelligence and dossiers on the group. Tariq began deliberately provoking the unknown Mansour “Heir” through the media. And Tuesday morning still held the appointment everyone had been preparing for: General Haziz Simbel and the artifacts believed to have survived the Library of Alexandria.

THE STORY SO FAR

Only hours earlier, Rana Al-Masri had addressed the world in a globally watched interview while the group’s public-service message introduced a new philosophy for living with the Storm. Before the attention could settle, NAIomi, British intelligence, and Tariq’s own security network detected an enormous magical event at Elephantine Island near Aswan.

The group arrived to find an awakening temple under attack by Saudi Dragon Men. Inside the ruins, people appeared to be answering an ancient divine summons. Outside, the Dragon Men attempted to destroy them before that process could finish.

The heroes intervened. One Dragon Man was annihilated by Rana’s Solar Judgment, while the surviving attackers withdrew. But another conflict was unfolding at the nearby museum, where Russian operatives had encountered something elemental.

Session 33 began with the Dragon Men gone, the temple still awakening, and the realization that the real crisis had barely started.

MAJOR EVENTS & KEY MOMENTS

1. After the Dragon Men

With combat ending, the group finally had a moment to examine Elephantine Island.

The remains of the defeated Red Dragon Man offered little intelligence. Rana’s Solar Judgment had reduced flesh and armor alike to ruined, partially fused material. Tariq used his control over earth to gather what remained and contain it beneath stone rather than leave the wreckage scattered across the site.

More importantly, the party began noticing fluctuations in the magical environment. Powerful waves were moving through the ley lines. They were not voices, spells, or conventional attacks. They felt like magic itself being pushed through the area.

At the temple, Yusuf realized that several of the people caught in the awakening were struggling with newly manifesting powers. The two central priestly figures remained overwhelmed by divine energy, while others had been drawn into the event simply because they were nearby when the temple awakened.

The Dragon Men had interrupted a process already underway. They had not caused it.

2. The Temple Rebuilds Itself

Rana entered the temple while Tariq prepared to investigate the museum.

Her own awakening at the Temple of the Unseen Sun gave her some context for what she was seeing. Elephantine’s ruins were physically rebuilding themselves. Ancient masonry was being repaired while brilliant magical energy temporarily filled missing sections of walls and structure.

This was not an illusion of a restored temple. The temple was actually restoring itself.

The people inside had been caught in a divine rapture they barely understood. Some were injured from the attack, but healing energies were already moving through the sanctuary.

For Rana, the scene was disturbingly familiar. The difference was that this time she was not the confused person awakening inside the impossible temple. She was the experienced priest walking in from outside.

3. A Pyramid Beneath Elephantine

Yusuf used his enhanced vision to examine what lay beneath the temple. The answer changed the archaeological scale of the entire site.

The temple had been constructed above a granite step pyramid.

The structure extended beneath the visible ruins and was reacting strongly to the same magical ripples affecting the temple. Later examination would establish that the stone pyramid was older than the temple constructed atop it and that the two were functionally connected. The entrance to the pyramid was associated with the temple complex. Exactly what the pyramid represents remains unresolved.

What is established is considerably more troublesome: Elephantine Island contains an ancient structure beneath an already ancient sacred site, and the awakening is restoring both.

4. The Air Becomes Solid

As Tariq, Yusuf, and Michael moved toward the museum, the environment became increasingly unnatural.

The air developed physical resistance. Movement felt like pushing through a sponge or dense invisible medium. Tariq’s Pharaoh’s Cloak protected him from the environmental impairment, but even he could feel the altered substance around him.

His arcane knowledge suggested an elemental-planar phenomenon. The effect resembled solid air, as though the Elemental Plane of Air were bleeding into the physical world.

The oxygen concentration was also extraordinarily high, producing an intoxicating effect and helping explain the bizarre behavior the group had observed among the Russians.

Then another magical pulse rolled through. The source appeared to be the museum.

5. The Pulse

The pulses were not random. Yusuf’s time sense eventually established a rhythm: one pulse approximately every three combat rounds, or about every eighteen seconds. Each pulse forced those caught in the phenomenon to resist its effects. The heroes endured them. The Russians had apparently been exposed longer and were not doing nearly as well.

Near the museum entrance, one Russian operative was trapped within the solid-air phenomenon, his body held at unnatural angles. Inside, another armored Russian was already dead, his position leaving little question that whatever had happened to him was unsurvivable.

The Russians had entered Elephantine looking for something. Instead, they had walked into an awakening.

6. Something Beneath the Museum

Inside the museum, Tariq could feel powerful magic emanating from below.

Displays and objects throughout the collection were reacting to the awakening. Some appeared to have become magical only recently. Others seemed to be responding to something much older beneath the floor.

The museum had become a convergence point between the awakening temple, ancient artifacts, elemental forces, and the buried structure beneath Elephantine and the pulses continued.

7. Rana Meets the Awakening

Back at the temple, Rana concentrated on the two people being transformed into its priesthood.

Their experience mirrored aspects of the group’s own awakenings. They had not arrived with a clear understanding of why they were there. Their clothing had been transformed by divine magic. Their bodies and senses were changing. Their knowledge of the Egyptian pantheon suddenly mattered in ways no academic education could have prepared them for.

The male priest wore a ram-headed headdress.

The woman wore the white crown of Upper Egypt adorned with antelope imagery.

Their transformation was not cosmetic. The temple had selected them.

8. David Consecrates the Temple

David recognized another problem. An awakening temple of enormous power had just been attacked, breached by hostile forces, and surrounded by unstable elemental phenomena. Even if the immediate enemies were gone, the sanctuary needed protection.

He began a lengthy consecration ritual intended to place the temple under Protection from Evil. The magical pulses repeatedly threatened to interrupt the work. David persisted through them, spending his own resources to maintain the ritual as the catastrophe continued developing around him. The Arcane Knight was not trying to understand the awakening. He was making sure whatever came next had a defensible place to stand.

9. A Prayer to the River

The awakening priests were calling toward the Nile.

David understood that their invocation was not simply elemental magic. They were reaching toward a divine connection associated with the river and its flood.

The name at the center of that call was Anuket, daughter of Khnum and Satet.

David changed his own approach. Rather than attempting to command the elemental forces, he petitioned Anuket for the bounty of the flood. The prayer was answered.

10. The Nile Rises

The river began to move. Not metaphorically. Not as a localized magical effect. The Nile rose.

Water surged toward Elephantine Island as the divine call of the temple reached outward. What had begun as an awakening inside ancient ruins became a physical transformation of the surrounding landscape.

At the same time, the Elemental Air phenomenon around the museum remained dangerously unstable. Water was coming in. Air was refusing to move. And the two forces were about to meet.

11. Eighteen Seconds

Another pulse passed through the island.  Then the collision came.

The rising Nile struck the concentrated elemental-air phenomenon with catastrophic force. Water, air, earth, ruined masonry, and magical energy erupted together.

The heroes were forced to survive three separate dangers: the initial explosion, the physical battering of debris and water, and the very real possibility of drowning as the violent flood forced water into anything that still needed to breathe.

Hero points, magical protections, and raw durability kept the group alive. The museum was not so fortunate.

12. The Museum Is No More

When the explosion cleared enough for anyone to understand what had happened, one fact was immediately apparent:

The Elephantine Island Museum was gone.

For several terrifying moments, the group could not even determine whether the destruction had consumed more of Elephantine Island itself.

The heroes were thrown through geysers and walls of water as the sudden absence of the elemental-air pressure caused the surrounding atmosphere and floodwaters to collapse violently back into the space. The island had become the center of a magical hydraulic disaster.

13. The Temple Holds

Against all expectation, the temple courtyard survived.

The same divine forces that had been rebuilding the sanctuary protected those within it. Walls were damaged and incomplete, but the temple remained standing while the world outside was battered by the flood.

The contrast was stark, the modern museum had been erased while the ancient temple was repairing itself.

14. Michael Anchors the Moment

As both David and the awakening priests struggled to complete their respective rituals, Michael returned to the temple and brought the Chrono Charm into play.

With David’s permission, he used it to stabilize the timing of the rituals. The intervention worked.

Michael’s Chrono Charm helped both the priestly awakening and David’s consecration reach completion despite the pulses, flood, and destruction surrounding them.

David successfully consecrated the temple under Protection from Evil. The priesthood completed its awakening.

15. Feliz Shawky and Mishra Al-Khatib

When the divine intensity finally subsided enough for ordinary conversation, the newly awakened priests could introduce themselves.

The priest of Khnum was Feliz Shawky. The priestess of Satis was Mishra Al-Khatib.

Both were educated in Egyptian religion and antiquity, and their families had longstanding connections to archaeological interests. They had known one another before the awakening. Neither, however, had expected this.

They described confusion, changed sensations, strange thoughts, and the overwhelming certainty that their lives had become something entirely different. Like the heroes after their own awakenings, they were suddenly living inside knowledge and responsibilities that had previously belonged to mythology.

Rana began explaining what she could about bloodlines, divine selection, and the difficult adjustment ahead.

16. Someone Is Still Missing

The awakening was not complete. During Rana’s conversations with Feliz and Mishra, it became apparent that both expected someone else. They could not identify the person.

They simply felt that another individual was supposed to come. Rana reached the same conclusion from the divine pattern surrounding the temple.

The temple had awakened Khnum and Satet’s representatives, but another divine office remained unanswered.

17. The Followers of Elephantine

The other people inside the temple were not additional bloodline priests.

They were residents and visitors from Elephantine and Aswan who had been close enough when the awakening began to feel its call. They had been drawn toward the temple in awe and had participated in its first ritual.

Their involvement would affect them, but their futures remained matters of individual choice.

The distinction was important. The temple was not simply awakening bloodlines. It was gathering a congregation.

18. The Flood Gives Back

David turned his attention to what remained of the museum collection.

Rather than simply salvage whatever debris could be found, he continued his petition to Anuket. The receding and circulating floodwaters began leaving objects around the temple almost like offerings.

Over roughly two hours, David catalogued and recovered what the river returned. The result was extraordinary. He managed to save approximately 70 percent of the museum’s collection.

Of that recovered material, roughly half consisted of awakening items, primarily potential bloodline objects or magical artifacts whose full nature had not yet been realized. The destruction of the museum had not destroyed its entire legacy. The Nile had redistributed it.

19. Three Objects for Three Priests

Among the recovered material, Anuket delivered three items in particular.

For the Priestess of Satis an Ankh that was also a magical Bow.

For the unknown Priestess of Anuket several plants and countless seeds of Cyperus papyrus

Each was associated with one of the priests answering the temple’s divine call, analogous to the artifacts that had called to members of the group during their own awakenings.

The specific identities and properties of these objects remained to be researched. Their purpose did not. They belonged with the emerging priesthood.

20. Ancient Things Wake

The recovered collection revealed another disturbing pattern.

Many of the objects were not yet fully active magical artifacts. They were awakening objects, things with the potential to become far more significant if they encountered the correct bloodline or individual.

Others resembled metamagical components, items representing magical principles or technologies that could potentially be developed further.

Elephantine had therefore produced more than a temple awakening. It had activated an archaeological collection. The artifacts of the past were beginning to recognize the present.

21. The Explosion Killed Things Too

The flood had not been entirely indiscriminate.

The GM confirmed that the explosion destroyed several elemental entities beneath the complex that would otherwise have become additional problems for the heroes.

Whatever forces had been gathering below Elephantine had therefore suffered losses of their own. The party survived a disaster that also eliminated threats they had not yet encountered. For once, collateral damage had the decency to work both ways.

22. The Angels of Aswan

With the immediate magical crisis stabilized, the heroes turned to the human disaster.

For approximately two hours, they helped rescue the injured, move civilians, support overwhelmed first responders, and deal with the aftermath of the flooding.

Rana used the opportunity to begin teaching Feliz and Mishra how their new roles might translate into helping people rather than simply explaining theology to them.

Michael’s rescues were considerably more visually dramatic as he was insubstantial, his rescues made it appear that the civilians were literally being carried through the air.

The cameras noticed.Within hours, the group was trending globally under a new name:

The Angels of Aswan.

No committee approved it. No branding consultant tested it. Humanity simply saw superpowered figures pulling people out of a magical flood and did what humanity does best when confronted with catastrophe.It made a hashtag.

23. Rana Leaves the Door Open

Rana deliberately avoided overwhelming the newly awakened priests.

Feliz and Mishra were effectively in shock. Only that morning they had been ordinary people. Now their clothing, senses, spiritual identities, and responsibilities had been rewritten by divine power. Rana exchanged contact information with them and made clear that when the questions came, they would have someone who had already survived a similar awakening to call.

For the first time, Rana was no longer merely one of the awakened. She was becoming a guide for those who came after.

24. The Helios Vault

The recovered artifacts could not simply remain in the wreckage of Elephantine.

Tariq offered a solution through Helios Vault, his high-security facility in Alexandria.

The group teleported there with the recovered material. Located among the industrial structures near Alexandria’s docks, the facility contained specialized storage environments, including cold storage, hermetically sealed chambers, and vaults designed around strict access conditions.

The recovered Elephantine collection could therefore be protected from theft, environmental degradation, and casual interference while the group determined what each object actually was.

David also used the opportunity to offload material from his own extra dimensional storage.

The archaeological rescue had officially become an inventory problem. Civilization had returned.

25. Tariq Discovers Public Relations

While the artifacts were being secured, Tariq contacted Nadine. His request was simple in concept and considerably less subtle in execution.

With the unknown Mansour Heir still somewhere in the background, Tariq wanted THOTH’s social-media operation to begin deliberately associating him with the Mansour succession.

The campaign: #MansourHeir

The objective was not merely vanity. Tariq hoped that publicly presenting himself as the obvious Mansour heir might provoke the unidentified rival into revealing himself or otherwise reacting.

Whether that works remains unknown. Whether Tariq enjoyed turning a dynastic mystery into a social-media campaign is considerably less mysterious.

26. Sir Malcolm Grant Calls

David received a call from Sir Malcolm Grant, Chief of Staff to the British Prime Minister.

British intelligence had been watching the magical spike at Elephantine and the subsequent Nile flooding. Grant wanted a situation report. David gave him something larger.

In David’s assessment, the Nile was not simply flooding. It appeared to be returning toward ancient channels and ancient patterns, reshaping the modern landscape to resemble the world in which the old magical systems had originally operated.

The gods had awakened and the landscape might be awakening with them.

27. What Should Britain Prepare For?

Grant eventually asked the question underneath all the intelligence reports:

What did Britain need to prepare its people for?

David did not soften the answer.

If ancient systems of power, trade, religion, and geography were returning, then modern nations could not assume that the political importance they acquired in later centuries would remain relevant. Britain had not been the center of the world during the eras now resurfacing.

David suggested Britain pay particular attention to its oldest legacies and prepare for a world in which ancient centers of civilization might again become disproportionately important.

Grant absorbed the answer. Then he acknowledged something else. David had been correct about the balance of power between them.

Grant asked David to contact him directly if there was something Britain needed to do.

28. The Nile Is Changing

The intelligence shared during the conversation confirmed that the event was not confined to Aswan. Satellite observations showed the Nile changing its flow and shape across multiple areas. David believed it was returning toward ancient beds and ancient flow patterns.

That interpretation remains an informed character assessment rather than a fully established scientific conclusion, but the underlying observation is real: The Nile itself is moving differently.

Elephantine did not merely awaken a temple. It may have begun rewriting Egyptian geography.

29. A Betrayer in the Network

Later, Yusuf received a secure message from Vakeman Chow. Someone had approached Chow’s network offering information for sale.

Not ordinary corporate intelligence. Satellite information. State secrets. And full dossiers on members of the group.

Chow believed someone with access to their satellite network was selling privileged information. He had not identified the source.

Rather than immediately close the channel, he contacted Yusuf and offered to remain engaged with the seller so the group could trace the leak. Yusuf authorized continued investigation and asked Chow to share whatever information he discovered.

The timing was particularly troubling. The approach had occurred shortly after Rana’s interview.

30. The Marketplace

Chow warned Yusuf that maintaining contact carried risk.

His network involved intermediaries. If he expressed interest in purchasing the stolen intelligence and later withdrew, he could not guarantee that whoever controlled the information would simply disappear. There were other buyers. This was a marketplace.

But Chow also made his position clear. The group had saved his daughters, and he would not betray them. Yusuf accepted the warning and asked him to proceed carefully.

The group went to rest knowing that somewhere inside or adjacent to their own intelligence infrastructure, someone was monetizing their secrets.

31. A World That Refuses to Sleep

By the time the group attempted to rest, their phones were almost useless from the volume of incoming information.

Rana’s interview was still circulating. The Angels of Aswan were trending. The Nile was flooding.

Volcanic activity in Madagascar was competing for attention.

And Tariq’s attempt to establish himself publicly as the Mansour Heir was entering the same information ecosystem. The Storm was no longer producing isolated incidents.

Events were beginning to overlap faster than governments, intelligence services, corporations, or the heroes themselves could comfortably process them.

32. Tuesday Morning

The group awakened Tuesday and returned to their disciplined routines.

David expanded his Rite of Centered Mind to protect the entire party for the coming day, granting additional mental resilience and the ability to recover from a failed act of will.

The precaution was timely. Their next destination was General Haziz Simbel’s military installation, where artifacts believed to have been rescued from the Library of Alexandria awaited examination.

Rana specifically raised the possibility that their powers might be suppressed or taken away during the coming encounter. Nobody treated the concern as unreasonable. That alone said quite a bit about their lives.

33. THOTH Looks West

Before leaving High House, Tariq returned to unfinished THOTH business.

The board had previously supported establishing a physical office in the United States. Tariq began considering locations and narrowed the practical choices toward Washington, D.C., or New York.

New York gained the advantage for one obvious reason: The United Nations.

With Naguib Sawiris emerging as a leading candidate for Secretary-General, a THOTH presence in New York could serve both corporate and political interests.

No property was acquired yet. Tariq planned to check whether Mansour or THOTH holdings already included an appropriate building before purchasing anything new.

Even Tariq occasionally allows due diligence to interrupt the purchase of extremely expensive real estate.

34. Beneath the Temple

Before closing the session, the group clarified what had been learned about the structure beneath Elephantine. The granite step pyramid is older than the later temple built above it. The pyramid and temple are connected, not merely coincidentally occupying the same location.

The Nile flood itself was unlikely to have seriously damaged the pyramid because the structure had endured flooding repeatedly across its existence. The violent movement of the earth during the awakening could have caused damage, but there was no indication of destruction.

More intriguingly, the pyramid had recently been infused with the same restorative magic affecting the temple. David noted that the magical event had felt less like a structure collapsing and more like something ancient being lifted, repaired, and restored. The GM confirmed that impression.

The players speculated about whether the pyramid might predate later Egyptian pyramid traditions or represent an earlier stage in their development. For now, that remains speculation.

The stone beneath Elephantine is older than the temple. How much older remains one of the session’s largest unanswered questions.

35. General Simbel Is Waiting

The session ended Tuesday morning with the group preparing to depart High House.

The official plan remained intact:

General Haziz Simbel would collect them and take them to the military facility containing the artifacts believed to have been rescued from the Library of Alexandria.

After Elephantine, the prospect of examining another cache of impossibly ancient objects had acquired considerably more weight. The group had just watched a museum collection wake up. Now they were going to inspect relics from the greatest lost library in history.

CHARACTER SPOTLIGHTS

Rana Al-Masri

Rana crossed an important threshold this session. At earlier temples she had been the person struggling to understand an awakening. At Elephantine, she became the experienced hand helping others survive one.

Her relationship with Feliz Shawky and Mishra Al-Khatib establishes a potentially important new role for her: mentor to the emerging priesthoods of the awakened Egyptian pantheon.

Her divine connection also gave her an immediate understanding that the temple’s story was incomplete. Someone answering Anuket’s call is still missing.

Tariq Mansour

Tariq balanced archaeology, magical catastrophe, corporate logistics, dynastic politics, and social media with the sort of seamlessness only possible when one has enough employees.

His Helios Vault provided the infrastructure needed to protect the recovered Elephantine collection. More provocatively, Tariq decided to use his public profile as a weapon against the mysterious Mansour Heir by deliberately pushing #MansourHeir.

He also began laying groundwork for a THOTH office in New York, connecting the organization’s international growth with Sawiris’s emerging UN ambitions.

David Hassan

David was central to the session’s magical resolution.

His consecration protected the newly awakened temple, his petition to Anuket helped transform the flood into an act of recovery, and his work salvaged approximately 70 percent of the museum collection.

His conversation with Sir Malcolm Grant also showed the Arcane Knight increasingly functioning as something more than a supernatural combatant. Governments are beginning to ask him what the awakening world means.

Unfortunately for governments, he answers.

Yusuf Khalid

Yusuf remained the party’s observer and security anchor.

His time sense established the eighteen-second rhythm of the magical pulses, while his enhanced senses helped reveal the pyramid beneath the temple.

Later, his conversation with Bakeman Chow opened one of the session’s most dangerous non-magical plotlines: someone with privileged access is attempting to sell the group’s intelligence.

Yusuf chose investigation over panic, leaving Chow’s network in position to trace the source.

Michael Adeyemi

Michael’s Chrono Charm proved decisive at the temple, helping both David and the emerging priesthood complete rituals that might otherwise have been disrupted by the magical pulses.

He also became one of the most visible rescuers during the Aswan disaster, contributing to the public image that produced the “Angels of Aswan” name.

Once again, Michael demonstrated that some of the group’s most valuable powers are not the ones that inflict damage.

GM NOTES & WORLD NARRATIVE

Elephantine establishes a major escalation in the Awakening.

Previous events demonstrated that individuals, artifacts, and temples could awaken. Session 33 demonstrates that geography itself may participate. The Nile’s altered flow suggests that ancient magical systems may not simply adapt themselves to the modern world. They may force portions of the modern world to adapt to them.

The granite step pyramid beneath Elephantine is equally significant. Its confirmed age relative to the later temple introduces another archaeological layer beneath the already ancient Egyptian religious landscape. The players discussed possible implications for the development of later pyramid traditions, but those theories remain speculative.

The awakening also appears capable of activating collections of related antiquities simultaneously. Roughly half of the recovered museum material now qualifies as awakening objects. That creates an entirely new strategic problem: museums, private collections, archaeological stores, and hidden family vaults may contain dormant objects waiting for the correct person or event.

Finally, the attempted sale of satellite intelligence demonstrates that the campaign’s political and intelligence threats are evolving alongside its magical ones. The heroes are becoming globally important enough that information about them has substantial market value.

LOOT, CLUES, & REVEALS

Items Acquired / Recovered: Approximately 70% of the Elephantine Island Museum collection was recovered through David’s efforts and Anuket’s response. Roughly half of that recovered material consists of awakening items, with much of the remainder resembling metamagical or developing magical objects. Three specific objects were delivered for members of the emerging priesthood. The larger recovered collection was transferred to Tariq’s Helios Vault in Alexandria.

Clues Found: The temple stands above a granite step pyramid older than the temple itself. The pyramid and temple are functionally connected. The Nile is changing course beyond Elephantine. Another priest connected to Anuket appears still to be missing.

Reveals and Twists: Feliz Shawky and Mishra Al-Khatib are newly awakened priests of Khnum and Satis respectively. The temple has begun gathering ordinary followers as well as bloodline representatives. Elephantine’s archaeological collection contained numerous dormant awakening objects. Someone with access to privileged satellite intelligence is attempting to sell information and dossiers concerning the group.

OUT-OF-CHARACTER HIGHLIGHTS

The table immediately recognized “Angels of Aswan” as review-title material when the name appeared online.

Tariq’s attempt to promote #MansourHeir was nearly derailed by the realization that “heir” and “hair” are dangerously close when entrusted to a table of RPG players.

The group also briefly debated the ethics of Tariq turning genuine rescue work into positive publicity. The general defense was that he had, in fact, rescued people first and only exploited the publicity afterward. Standards remain important.

Session Overview

Session Thirty-Two begins Monday morning with proof that the Alexandrian Storm Heros can change lives without fighting anyone.

A video from General Haziz Simbel’s estate shows the children playing together after Rana’s healing. Children who had been missing limbs or living with injuries from war are now running across the grounds. The party has spent months watching the Storm destroy old assumptions about the world. This time, they get to watch something restored.

The moment does not remain private for long.

Promotional clips from Rana’s interview begin spreading across the world that morning. Each includes pieces of the Storm-Touched Public Service Announcement created by the group. The full interview is scheduled for seven that evening, and early traffic indicates that it may become one of the largest media events since the Storm.

Before that happens, the THOTH Network has a board meeting.

For the first time, the board does not gather physically.

Mei Lin has created a virtual boardroom through NAIomi.

The result becomes far more important than a convenient corporate meeting space. Michael discovers that the environment is protected by NAIomi’s virtues. The Master cannot directly enter the virtual space. Naguib Sawiris appears there without the entity sharing his experience.

For the first time since the Storm, Sawiris has somewhere inside his own life where the Master is not standing beside him.

The board uses the protected environment to conduct ordinary business, which in 2057 means discussing volcanic activity in Madagascar, the collapse of ordinary financial systems across large portions of the world, global humanitarian logistics, corporate security, the eventual sale of Naomi Brooks’ THOTH shares, and whether building a physical headquarters is unnecessarily helpful to assassins.

Then the board meeting ends. The real conversation begins.

Sawiris answers questions about the Master, the pre-Storm countdown, the families of blood, and the hidden structures that existed before Flight 142. He confirms what he knows and refuses to pretend certainty where he does not have it. Tariq asks him to seek permission to reveal one particular secret.

The identity of the Mansour Heir. The answer does not come during the session. By four in the afternoon, the party separates.

Yusuf investigates a lawyer. David prepares desserts for a watch party at the Veil. Rana takes dinner to Marcus Blackstone so they can watch the interview privately. Tariq speaks with his sister Soraya about the Mansour bloodline and considers whether the secretive Werner Mansour could be connected to the family mystery. The possibility remains speculation.

At seven, Rana Al-Masri goes before the world.

The interview itself was recorded days earlier. Session Thirty-Two is about what happens when everyone finally sees it.

The broadcast becomes enormous. Other platforms crash under the traffic. Interview requests flood the party’s phones. The PSA reaches people far beyond the original audience. Early reaction is strongly positive.

During the broadcast, the news crawl carries another development.

Naguib Sawiris is now being reported as a leading candidate to replace the deceased United Nations Secretary-General Alistair Edmund Vane. Not appointed. Not elected. But suddenly very publicly in contention. Then, within an hour of the interview ending, the world changes direction again.

NAIomi alerts Michael. British intelligence alerts David. Tariq’s security network alerts him independently.

Something has awakened at Elephantine Island in Aswan. The magical readings are off the chart.

The party responds immediately.

They arrive to find an ancient temple awakening, local worshippers trying to defend it, newly emerging priests struggling to understand powers they have only just received, and four Saudi Dragon Men attacking the site.

The Alexandrian Storm Heros intervene. This time the Dragon Men do not dominate the battlefield.

The heroes concentrate their attacks, Tariq’s Rod of Command amplifies his ability to inspire the defenders, Yusuf divides himself across the fight, Rana and David bring their own power to bear, and one Dragon Man falls. The others flee.

For several seconds, it appears the crisis has broken.

Then Michael looks through the glass aperture of the nearby museum.

The Russians are already inside.

Among the hostile Russian network are enemies the party has faced before: Mikhail Kuznetsov, the Scanner, and the Technomancer, the evil cleric whose magic fuses technology with undeath.

But the Russians are not looting peacefully. They are fighting.

Strange elemental creatures are appearing throughout the museum.

The Dragon Men have retreated. The temple is awakening. The Russians are under attack.

And Monday night at Elephantine Island is nowhere near finished.

The Story So Far

Session Thirty-One transformed General Haziz Simbel from a distant military threat into something far more complicated.

The party entered his estate expecting the man Scrambler had described as a power-hungry madman. Instead, they found a soldier convinced another war was coming, a host willing to answer dangerous questions, and a man caring for children injured by previous conflicts.

Simbel confirmed that the secret military base west of Alexandria sits above a cache believed to contain materials rescued from the Library of Alexandria. Rather than forcing the party to infiltrate the installation, he offered to arrange legitimate access.

He also revealed that he may not fully understand what his own son has been doing with powered prisoners.

The evening changed again when Simbel asked Rana whether healing hurt her and whether she might be able to help the injured children living at his estate. She could. By Monday morning, the results are visible. Children who had been missing limbs are playing ball.

At the same time, Rana’s long-awaited public interview is ready to air, the THOTH Network is preparing its first major virtual board meeting, NAIomi continues expanding into the company’s infrastructure, and the party remains only one day away from its planned visit to the secret military base.

Session Thirty-Two begins with a reminder that extraordinary power can repair something.

The rest of the day demonstrates how quickly the world finds new things to break.

Major Events & Key Moments

1. Monday Begins with Children Running

The party begins the morning at High House after the Alignment of Purpose.

Their phones carry the video from General Simbel’s estate.

The children are playing. The importance lies in who is participating.

Children whose injuries and disabilities had previously kept them from joining the others are now running with them after Rana’s healing.

No divine proclamation accompanies the moment. No military briefing is necessary. The evidence is a game in a yard.

Session Thirty-One ended with Simbel asking whether Rana could restore what war had taken from these children. Session Thirty-Two begins with the answer.

Yes.

2. Rana’s Interview Starts Before It Airs

Shortly after the morning ritual, promotional clips from Rana’s interview begin appearing.

The material ranges from serious questions to lighter personal moments, but every promotional release also includes part of the party’s Storm-Touched PSA and directs viewers toward additional information.

The response is immediate.

Internet traffic surges. Commentary spreads. The interview is tracking toward becoming a massive global event before the full program has even aired.

The party understands what that means. Rana is no longer preparing to explain herself to a journalist.

By seven that evening, she will be explaining herself to much of the world.

Human civilization has finally reached the point where a resurrected priestess of Ra can spend the morning worrying about media engagement metrics.

The ancients would presumably be delighted or baffled, probably both.

3. The World Is Too Strange to Watch All at Once

Before the board meeting, Tariq spends additional time reviewing satellite and intelligence reports.

The volume has become overwhelming.

Every organization now faces the same problem. Reports that would once have been dismissed as nonsense have to be investigated because nonsense has developed an unfortunate habit of becoming real.

Security personnel cannot automatically ignore reports about impossible animals, altered people, magical events, or inexplicable biological changes.

One issue increasingly dominating public concern is children.

Schools and parents are reporting new problems among Storm-touched children. Some appear to have biological changes so severe that they no longer eat normal food.

The global attention problem becomes obvious. Governments may be watching wars, magical events, economic collapse, and political realignment.Parents are watching their children.

The world is not ignoring the Storm. It simply has too many Storms to watch simultaneously.

4. Mei Lin Builds a Boardroom Where the Master Cannot Follow

At ten o’clock, the THOTH Network board meeting begins.

The members enter through their company phones and appear as avatars in a virtual boardroom created by Mei Lin through NAIomi.

Michael immediately recognizes that this is more than cosmetic. The virtual environment contains protections. They are built around NAIomi’s virtues. The difference is immediate. 

There are no saving throws. No supernatural drain. No sense of entering a room already compromised by an invisible enemy.

Then Michael realizes something more important. The Master cannot directly enter this place.

It could dominate someone outside the virtual environment and potentially influence the avatar that person controls. But the entity itself cannot experience the virtual boardroom in the way the human participants do.

For Michael, who previously experienced cyberspace as a place where he felt dangerously exposed, the discovery offers a completely different model.

A digital environment can be defended. Not merely with encryption. With principles.

5. Naguib Sawiris Is Alone

Sawiris enters the virtual boardroom. He is delighted.

When asked about his health, he explains that he has not fully recovered his energy but is physically restored. Then he demonstrates what the virtual environment means to him. 

He can write information inside the room that the Master cannot read.

For the first time since the Storm, Naguib Sawiris appears to possess a private mental space.

Not because the Master has left him. Because the Master cannot come here.

The board immediately establishes a security procedure. Sawiris will use an agreed word or phrase at the beginning of protected conversations. If he does not provide it, sensitive subjects will not be discussed.

The protocol is simple. The implication is enormous.

The party has spent weeks trying to communicate around an entity that listens through its host.

NAIomi has given them a room where Sawiris can close the door.

6. THOTH Decides Not to Build a Convenient Target

Marcus Blackstone calls the meeting to order and begins moving through the agenda.

One question concerns whether the THOTH Network should establish a permanent physical headquarters.

Mei Lin raises the eventual need for one, but Glau Zoff, the German international banker on the board, argues for caution. The virtual boardroom works.

More importantly, one of the company’s present security advantages is that its leadership does not gather predictably in one place.

Her international banking network can provide secure physical meeting spaces when needed.

Rana agrees that establishing a headquarters before the group has secured the sovereign territory it hopes eventually to create would be premature.

Tariq proposes a variation.

Instead of exposing the real leadership, THOTH could establish a public-facing or false operational headquarters designed partly as counterintelligence. If enemies target it, the company learns who is hunting them.

The board is receptive. Nobody volunteers to run the decoy. Apparently corporate courage has limits.

Blackstone records the virtual boardroom as the accepted meeting structure for the coming year unless the board later reopens the issue. Tariq’s decoy headquarters becomes an initiative under his direction.

The company chooses not to put a helpful sign over the building where all its most valuable people can be found.

Corporate governance continues making astonishing breakthroughs.

7. The THOTH Board Looks at a Broken Global Economy

David asks a practical question. How liquid is the company’s wealth?

The answer requires discussing what the word money still means in different parts of the world.

Europe and the United States retain functioning systems capable of handling large liquid transactions. Japan operates similarly to the American financial market.

Other regions are far less stable.

Parts of Asia have severe problems with ordinary currency. Russian and northern economies have fallen badly behind the changing world economy. In South America, major cities such as Rio de Janeiro can still process large financial transactions, while areas beyond the major urban centers increasingly rely upon trade.

Australia remains largely cut off, though its major cities are believed to retain functioning economic systems. The conclusion changes how David thinks about humanitarian aid. Money is useful only where money still purchases what people need.

He proposes examining transportation, cargo capacity, infrastructure, ships, aircraft, real estate, and physical supply networks rather than assuming that electronic transfers solve humanitarian problems.

Sawiris encourages him to coordinate with the United Nations program already connected to THOTH’s earlier banking initiative. The company possesses extraordinary wealth.

The problem is increasingly converting wealth into food, medicine, transportation, and functioning systems.

8. Naomi Brooks’ Shares and a Future for the Arbiter Network

Rana raises another financial issue. Naomi Brooks’ THOTH shares remain unresolved.

These are not shares in NAIomi. They are the corporate shares associated with Naomi Brooks.

Rana wants the opportunity to purchase a significant portion when they become available. Her purpose is not simply personal investment.

She wants the resulting income to become a long-term financial foundation for the Arbiter Network and the Veil so that the institutions can eventually operate without depending upon Rana personally transferring money whenever something is needed.

The board has not yet established the sale structure. Blackstone recommends caution.

The company first needs to determine a defensible internal value. Selling the shares below a credible valuation could damage the company’s public stock price. Board members also need sufficient notice to arrange their finances fairly.

The plan becomes staged. At a future board meeting, the internal price will be announced.

At the following meeting, board members will receive the opportunity to participate in a pre-public sale.

Only afterward will the company begin planning the wider public offering. 

Tariq also expresses interest in acquiring some of Naomi Brooks’ shares. Rana’s objective remains clear.

The Veil cannot remain a charity financed indefinitely from her pocket. It needs income of its own.

9. The Board Chooses Mondays

Michael raises the possibility of developing or using electronic currency structures less vulnerable to conventional financial control.

The discussion does not establish a new currency during the session, but it reflects the broader concern that old banking systems can be manipulated by governments, corporations, or supernatural actors working through them.

The board also formalizes a recurring schedule.

Regular virtual meetings will occur on Mondays, with emergency meetings available when necessary.

This is sensible, the campaign has reached the stage where scheduling the meeting used to discuss supernatural world domination requires its own governance policy.

10. Sawiris Gets His Private Interrogation

After lunch, the protected virtual environment allows the party to ask Sawiris questions that would be too dangerous elsewhere. The conversation returns to the pre-Storm countdown and the systems that existed before Flight 142.

Sawiris makes an important distinction. He knew when the clock ended.  He did not know exactly what  event would occur when it reached zero. The party has long suspected that Sawiris possessed some form of foreknowledge. His answer confirms awareness of the timing without confirming knowledge of the Storm itself.

He also separates his own pre-Storm knowledge from the Master’s direct involvement. As far as Sawiris knows, the entity’s direct involvement with him begins with the Storm. He believes the Master may have been active earlier. He cannot prove how much earlier, this distinction remains important. The party refuses to convert suspicion into canon merely because the suspicion is persuasive.

11. Living with the Master Is Described from the Inside

Tariq asks Sawiris about the Master’s behavior. Does it ask questions?

How does information move between them? What does it want?

Sawiris struggles to describe the relationship because it does not resemble ordinary conversation.

The Master does not politely interrogate him. It takes.

Sawiris describes the sensation as constantly having a claw inside him, hollowing him out.

Tariq asks whether he wants to live that way forever. Sawiris does not but he is also afraid that attempts to remove the entity may expose someone else to it.

The answer reframes his resistance. Sawiris is not merely protecting himself. He is afraid of passing the problem to another host. The party has spent months treating possession as a tactical problem.

For Sawiris, it is every moment of his life.

12. Tariq Asks for the Mansour Heir

Before the protected conversation ends, Tariq makes a specific request.

If Sawiris is seeking permission to disclose information, Tariq wants him also to seek permission to reveal the identity of the Mansour Heir.

The Heir is a Mansour. The session does not establish which Mansour. It does not establish any family relationship between the Heir and the Master.

The party has theories. Theories remain theories. Sawiris understands why the question troubles Tariq and agrees to pursue the answer. Tariq leaves the virtual boardroom knowing that someone within his family occupies a role important enough to have been concealed from him. He does not yet know who.

For a man whose family tree increasingly doubles as an occult organizational chart, this is becoming inconvenient.

13. Four O’Clock Splits the Party

The protected board session concludes around four in the afternoon. The group now has several hours before Rana’s seven o’clock broadcast. Everyone separates.

David plans to watch from the Veil and asks High House staff to prepare desserts he can contribute to the evening meal.

Rana asks for two dinners to go. She is watching the interview with Marcus Blackstone. Blackstone accepts the invitation before she can finish asking.

Michael remains involved with the group’s technology and intelligence. Yusuf returns to the unresolved lawyer investigation. Tariq turns toward family.

For a few hours, the Alexandrian Storm Heros behaves almost like five adults with separate evening plans. This condition will not survive until ten.

14. Yusuf Checks the Lawyer’s House

Yusuf searches for the lawyer’s personal information.

Two addresses emerge, one in Alexandria and another in Cairo. The Cairo location appears more likely to be a family address than a personal residence, though that is not confirmed.

The lawyer is divorced and has one child. Yusuf conducts a drive-by of the relevant residence rather than knocking on the door. Using his enhanced senses, he checks the property.

The surrounding street is active, but the house itself shows little activity beyond a servant. Yusuf calls the lawyer’s office. The secretary says the lawyer has gone to a doctor’s appointment.

The investigation does not resolve who the lawyer represents or what role he may play. It does establish another location and another piece of the man’s routine. Yusuf leaves the matter open.

15. Tariq Brings Soraya Further Inside

At High House, Tariq speaks with his sister Soraya about the Mansour family and what the party has learned concerning the families of blood.

The conversation turns toward Werner Mansour.

Werner is wealthy in his own right. Much of his fortune once depended upon print news media, forcing him to restructure as that industry declined. His branch of the Mansour family has historically been more isolated, standoffish, and private than other branches.

Soraya does not claim that this secrecy proves anything. She offers Werner only as a possibility. There is another complication. Werner has no known children.

If he were the Heir, the succession implied by the title would raise additional questions.

Tariq explains more of what he and the others have learned about bloodlines, the selection of Flight 142’s passengers, and the possibility that powers awakened along inherited lines.

He also tells Soraya more about the Veil and the long-term goal of creating a sovereign refuge for Storm-touched people. Soraya has already realized that the world around her brother is much larger than ordinary corporate politics. Tariq now begins allowing her to see how much larger.

16. The World Sits Down to Watch Rana Al-Masri

At seven o’clock, the interview airs. David watches from the Veil with residents, food, and the desserts brought from High House. Rana watches with Marcus Blackstone. Others watch from their own locations.

The interview itself follows the material recorded earlier and already established during Session Twenty-Eight: Rana’s life before the Storm, Flight 142, her missing month, her powers, her relationship with Ra, resurrection, Storm-touched rights, the Veil, and her belief that power does not place anyone above humanity.

The significance in Session Thirty-Two is no longer what Rana says. It is how many people hear her say it. The broadcast becomes a global event.

17. The PSA Goes with Her

Commercial breaks and promotional segments repeatedly carry the party’s PSA.

That matters because the interview audience is not limited to people interested in Rana’s religion or celebrity. Storm-touched people see it. Families see it. People frightened by powers they do not understand see it. People whose children have changed see it. 

The interview therefore becomes more than Rana’s public introduction. It becomes distribution infrastructure for the group’s outreach program. The party wanted frightened people to know there was somewhere to ask for help. For one evening, much of the world is watching the same screen.

18. Naguib Sawiris Appears on the News Crawl

During the broadcast, the running news ticker carries an unexpected political development.

Naguib Sawiris is identified as one of the leading candidates to replace the deceased United Nations Secretary-General Alistair Edmund Vane.

No other candidate is named during the crawl. The report does not say Sawiris has been selected. It does not say the appointment is settled.

It establishes only that his candidacy has become serious enough to be reported publicly during one of the most watched broadcasts in the world. The timing does not escape the party.

Sawiris has spent recent days working around the United Nations.

Now his name is moving toward one of the most powerful international offices remaining in the post-Storm world. The man carrying the Master may be moving closer to the center of global diplomacy.

The party has spent all day enjoying a room the Master cannot enter. The rest of the world may be preparing to give his host an office.

19. The Interview Breaks Other People’s Internet

By the end of the program, the scale of the audience overwhelms several outside platforms.

Video and social-media systems crash under the traffic. THOTH’s own network remains operational.

Comments and reactions pour in. The party’s phones fill with requests for additional interviews and appearances. Early reaction is strongly positive. Not universally positive. Rana never expected that.

But positive enough that the purpose of the interview appears to have worked. She wanted to present herself before others defined her. She wanted to explain that Storm-touched rights are human rights.

She wanted to make clear that Ra’s message did not require replacing what was already good. She wanted people to know that the Veil and Arbiter Network existed to help.

The world heard her. For roughly an hour, this is the largest problem the party has.

20. Three Different Networks Notice Elephantine Island

Within an hour of the interview ending, alerts begin arriving. 

NAIomi detects the anomaly. British intelligence independently contacts David. Tariq’s security apparatus independently contacts him. All three point toward the same place.

Elephantine Island. Aswan. Or what Ancient Egyptians called Yebu or Abu, is located at the uppermost part of the Nile river that is a part of Aswan

Magical readings have suddenly gone off the chart. The observers cannot determine whether the readings come from ley lines, a localized magical event, an awakening artifact, or something else.

Yusuf immediately identifies the practical concern. Aswan is a populated city and tourist center. People may be in danger. The party begins assembling. The interview requests can wait.

Ancient Egypt has apparently scheduled another opening.

21. Elephantine Is Older Than the Egypt They Know

The party reaches Elephantine Island and immediately recognizes that this is not simply another archaeological site.

The ruins are old. Very old. The religious traditions represented there reach into predynastic Egypt and the primordial mythology of the Nile. 

The environment contains a mixture of ancient ruins, modern village structures, and a nearby museum. 

Magic is erupting through the area. The temple itself is awakening. An energy barrier surrounds part of the sacred site. Local people are trying to defend it.

Among them are worshippers whose abilities are only beginning to manifest and two figures emerging into roles that resemble priests. One priestess has manifested an energy bow and uses it against the attackers. They are powerful. They are inexperienced.

The temple appears to be giving them tools faster than anyone can provide instructions.

22. The Dragon Men Return

Four Dragon Men are attacking the temple.

The party recognizes them as members of the Saudi Arabian force encountered previously.

The name remains descriptive rather than biological.

The attackers are people inside military exosuits that were altered by the Storm into draconic forms. The suits retain Iron Man-like flight and combat functions while manifesting powers associated with their transformed systems.

The four present are identified by suit colors: blue, red, green, and black. The Alexandrian Storm has fought members of this force before. The previous encounters established how dangerous they can be.

This time the heroes have surprise, greater experience, stronger coordination, and several newly developed abilities. They choose to defend the temple.

23. Tariq Inspires More Than the Party

Tariq opens the engagement by using Inspire. His allies receive the benefit. Then he moves closer to the temple defenders. The Rod of Command responds.

The wild magical energy surrounding the temple enters the effect, and Tariq realizes that his inspiration has expanded beyond the Alexandrian Storm. The worshippers and emerging priests feel it too.

The people struggling to defend their own temple suddenly fight with the confidence carried by the future Pharaoh’s command. Tariq does not take control of them. He strengthens what they are already trying to do. The Rod pulses in his hand. 

Another function of the awakened artifact reveals itself in battle.

24. The Green Dragon Man Resists Tariq’s Mind

Tariq focuses on the green-armored Dragon Man. The target possesses some form of mental resistance or protection. When Tariq attempts to reach him, the defense creates psychic feedback. 

Tariq withstands it. He then uses the newly linked stun effect attached to his mental blast. The Dragon Man resists both the forced component and the mental attack. The exchange establishes that the attackers remain formidable even when the party has tactical advantage.

Tariq does not waste time attempting to prove otherwise. He continues moving toward the defenders and supporting the broader fight.

25. Yusuf Turns One Sentinel into Three

Yusuf enters the battle as Yusuf, Deuce, and Trey. The three bodies divide their fire among the Dragon Men. This is the practical battlefield consequence of a power that once terrified him.

He no longer treats duplication as an accident or a symptom. He deploys it. Three Sentinels can threaten multiple attackers, protect different angles, and force enemies to divide attention.

The Dragon Men came expecting temple worshippers and newly awakened priests. They find an organized superhuman team joining the defense. The battlefield begins changing quickly.

26. The Temple Fights Back

The defenders are not passive civilians waiting for rescue. The emerging priestess continues firing her energy bow. The temple’s barrier interferes with the Dragon Men. Wild magical energy responds unpredictably around the sacred ground. 

The worshippers are less experienced than the Alexandrian Storm Heros and less capable than the two emerging priests, but they continue trying to defend the site. Tariq’s Inspire strengthens them. The distinction matters. The party has not arrived to conquer Elephantine. They have arrived to help the people already standing between the temple and its attackers.

27. One Dragon Man Falls

The Alexandrian Storm Heros concentrate their attacks. The tactical approach is deliberate.

Rather than spreading damage indefinitely across several durable opponents, the group focuses enough force to remove one enemy from the battle. It works. The Red Dragon Man is defeated. 

Two others are left stunned, bruised, and injured. The remaining suits react. Their systems fire. The surviving Dragon Men accelerate away from Elephantine Island at extreme speed. The retreat appears at least partly automated, consistent with suits designed to extract incapacitated or badly injured occupants.

The party does not pursue immediately. They have won the engagement at the temple. One Dragon Man dies at their hands. The others flee.

It is the cleanest victory the party has yet achieved against this force. Unfortunately, Elephantine Island contains more than one battle.

28. Something Else Is Happening at the Museum

During the fighting, Michael and Yusuf notice activity farther toward the village. Powered individuals appear to be operating around a building identified as a museum.

Once the Dragon Men retreat, Michael gains a clearer view.The structure is a functional two-and-a-half-story museum rather than a major tourist showpiece. A central glass aperture in the roof provides a view into the interior.

Michael looks down.The Russians are inside. The party has seen this network before. 

Mikhail Kuznetsov, the Scanner, led the Russian operation that besieged the Veil and later held Michael hostage aboard the Suez Canal tugboat. The Technomancer escaped the party during the same wider conflict, an evil cleric whose magic corrupts technology by combining it with undeath.

The Russians at Elephantine are therefore not unknown opportunists. They belong to an enemy network with direct history against the Alexandrian Storm Heros.

But something is wrong. They are fighting.

29. The Museum Is Filling with Elementals

The Russians are not simply defending themselves from museum security. Strange creatures are appearing around them. Michael can describe the entities only as elemental in nature.

The exact origin, allegiance, and nature of the creatures are not established before the session ends.

The wider magical event at Elephantine has already awakened the temple.Now something inside or around the museum appears to be producing another manifestation. The Russians are caught in combat with it.

The party does not yet know whether they caused the event, attempted to exploit it, arrived because they anticipated it, or simply reached the same location for reasons of their own. 

The transcript does not answer those questions. It leaves the party looking through the museum roof at old enemies fighting something new.

30. The Dragon Men Leave, the Russians Remain

By approximately 9:30 Monday evening, the immediate temple battle is over.

One Dragon Man perishing, a critical strike from Rana's Bio magic melted both flesh and circuits. 

The remaining Dragon Men have fled.The temple continues awakening. Its worshippers and emerging priests remain on the grounds.Nearby, the Russians are fighting elemental creatures inside the museum.

The party has not yet entered that battle. 

Tuesday morning is supposed to bring the long-awaited visit to General Simbel’s secret military base and the cache associated with the lost Library of Alexandria. That appointment still exists.

First, the Alexandrian Storm Heros have to survive Monday night.

Character Spotlights

Rana Al-Masri

Rana spends Session Thirty-Two experiencing the consequences of choices she made several sessions earlier.

The morning begins with Simbel’s children playing after she restored their injuries.

The evening brings the worldwide broadcast of an interview she agreed to because she did not want others defining Ra, the Storm-touched, or her mission without hearing directly from her.

The interview is not treated as a victory because everyone agrees with her. Rana explicitly understands that universal approval is impossible.

The victory is the reach of her message. Her words go out with the PSA. The Veil and Arbiter Network become visible to people who may need them. The early reaction is positive enough to demonstrate that the risk of appearing publicly accomplished what she intended.

Then the broadcast ends and Rana immediately returns to field work. 

At Elephantine, she does not arrive as a celebrity. She arrives to defend a temple and the people already protecting it. The contrast defines her current role better than any title.

Millions of people can watch Rana Al-Masri on television. An hour later, the Arbiter is back at work.

Tariq Mansour

Tariq’s session moves between corporate leadership, family mystery, psychic warfare, and literal command on a battlefield.

At the THOTH meeting, he proposes using a false headquarters as a counterintelligence operation rather than rushing the company into a vulnerable permanent location.

Inside the protected boardroom, he presses Sawiris for information about the Master and asks for the identity of the Mansour Heir. He does not receive it.

That uncertainty follows him into his conversation with Soraya. Werner Mansour becomes a possible candidate only through speculation based upon his branch of the family and its longstanding privacy. Nothing confirms him.

Tariq shares more of the truth with his sister instead of keeping her outside the world he now inhabits.

At Elephantine, the Rod of Command develops another dimension.

Tariq’s Inspire reaches beyond his teammates to the temple defenders.

The future Pharaoh does not simply command earth anymore.

His presence can strengthen people trying to defend sacred Egyptian ground. The symbolism is difficult to miss. Fortunately, the Dragon Men are too busy being shot at to complain about it.

David Hassan

David spends the board meeting asking the kind of question that becomes increasingly important as THOTH’s wealth grows.

What can money actually accomplish in a world where large regions no longer possess functioning cash economies? His conclusion is practical.

Humanitarian work increasingly requires transportation, infrastructure, cargo systems, ships, aircraft, real estate, and supply chains rather than merely transfers between accounts.

Sawiris directs him toward the existing UN-linked initiative, giving David another structure through which the Arcane Knight can act at global scale without pretending magic solves logistics.

His evening begins far more simply. He brings desserts to the Veil.

Then British intelligence independently alerts him to Elephantine Island.

That independent warning matters. The anomaly is not merely something NAIomi has decided is interesting. Multiple intelligence systems detect it.

David goes from humanitarian logistics and cupcakes to an awakening predynastic temple in a matter of hours. This is now a normal Monday.

Yusuf Khalid

Yusuf continues operating as the party’s practical security investigator.

He spends part of the afternoon locating and checking the lawyer’s residence without confronting him, confirms a servant is present, and learns through the office that the lawyer is at a doctor’s appointment.

The investigation remains unresolved, but Yusuf adds information without unnecessarily escalating the situation.

At Elephantine, his development is much more visible. Yusuf deploys Deuce and Trey without hesitation. The duplication power that once represented uncertainty now functions as battlefield doctrine. Three versions of Yusuf engage the Dragon Men and help divide the attackers’ attention.

The Sentinel is becoming exactly what his name implies. Not one defender. A defensive line.

Michael Adeyemi

Michael’s most important discovery occurs before anyone throws a punch.

Inside the NAIomi boardroom, he recognizes a digital space protected by virtues strongly enough that the Master cannot directly enter it.

For someone whose expanding powers increasingly bridge physical reality, data, and cyberspace, this provides a model for something Michael has lacked.

Defensible digital territory.

He also sees NAIomi moving beyond a tool he personally directs. Mei Lin has used it to create something independently useful for the organization. The system is becoming infrastructure.

At Elephantine, Michael again serves as the party member who sees what lies beyond the immediate battlefield. The Dragon Men retreat. Michael looks through the museum roof. That observation turns victory into cliffhanger. 

The Russians are back. And they are fighting something else.

Naguib Sawiris

Sawiris receives one of his most human scenes since the Master’s possession became known.

The virtual boardroom gives him privacy. For the first time, he can communicate with the party without assuming the entity inside him hears every word.

His description of possession is not philosophical. It feels like a claw hollowing him out. He does not want to remain that way. He also fears that freeing himself may expose someone else.

Sawiris confirms that he knew when the pre-Storm countdown would end without claiming that he knew precisely what would happen. He agrees to seek permission to reveal the Mansour Heir.

By evening, the world learns something else about him. He is a leading candidate for Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The party spends the morning discovering a place where the Master cannot follow Sawiris. The world spends the evening considering whether Sawiris should lead its largest international organization. Those two facts now exist at the same time.

GM Notes & World Narrative

Session Thirty-Two is built around networks.

The first is NAIomi.

The AI has moved beyond being Michael’s extraordinary research tool. Mei Lin uses it to build the virtual boardroom. Its virtues provide meaningful protection. THOTH begins relying upon it as infrastructure rather than novelty.

The second network is media.

Rana’s interview demonstrates how information can move farther than any teleportation power. The PSA reaches millions because it travels with a story people already want to watch. The interview requests arriving afterward show the other side of that success: visibility creates influence, but influence creates demand.

The third network is corporate.

THOTH is no longer simply a collection of wealthy survivors and allies. It is discussing governance schedules, headquarters security, share valuation, humanitarian logistics, international banking, infrastructure, and long-term financing for institutions such as the Veil.

The fourth is blood.

Tariq knows the Heir belongs to the Mansour family. He does not know who the Heir is.

The session deliberately preserves that uncertainty. Werner Mansour is discussed as a possibility, not revealed as the answer. Likewise, nothing establishes that the Heir is related to the Master. Those are separate mysteries.

The fifth network is supernatural.

Elephantine Island demonstrates that Abydos was not an isolated awakening. Ancient sacred sites are becoming active. Local people are manifesting powers in roles connected to those sites. The temple produces or channels defensive effects. Priests emerge before they fully understand what they are becoming.

The final network is hostile.

The Saudi Dragon Men appear at another awakened Egyptian site. 

Then the Russian network appears nearby. Mikhail Kuznetsov and the Technomancer connect Elephantine directly back to Sessions Thirteen and Fourteen, when the Russians attacked the Veil and Michael was taken hostage.

The important new fact is that the Russians are not alone.

Something elemental is fighting them inside the museum. 

The transcript does not establish why. That distinction must remain intact.

Session Thirty-Two ends with several factions occupying the same awakening event, but their exact goals remain unresolved.

The campaign has reached the point where the heroes no longer have to search very hard for ancient conspiracies.

Ancient conspiracies are beginning to schedule themselves.

Now their network is fighting elemental creatures inside an awakening site older than dynastic Egypt.

Tuesday morning still contains a scheduled visit to General Simbel’s secret base and the surviving treasures of the Library of Alexandria.

First, the party has to finish Monday. Apparently becoming one of the most watched groups on Earth does not come with the option to turn off notifications.
